Which I suppose is exactly what the project intended.
He's been very much hit and miss as an artist in the last decade, but I think this has to be one of the most interesting, thought provoking things Hirst's done. Not the paintings themselves, which are almost beside the point, but the idea.
The fact it's even got people discussing the weight of their piece or the paint overlaps, as if those things are anything other than completely arbitrary. It's really fascinating how we can be pushed to perceive value or exclusivity in anything, if the right person says it.
Enjoying that the conversation on these is quite split between people thrilled they'll be able to put a Hirst original on their wall, which they never imagined possible, and people talking about what the NFT will be worth the moment they're all assigned. Which I suppose is exactly what the project intended.
