Damien Hirst NFT "The Currency", by Inknart on Jul 14, 2021 17:18:53 GMT 1, I emailed heni to check this, response below: Thank you for reaching out, and for your interest in The Currency! Yes I can confirm that if you choose to exchange the NFT for the corresponding physical artwork, then the physical artwork will be delivered to the buyer. More information about the exchange will become available before the exchange period opens, and shipping information of the physical artwork will become available when the exchange period opens. This is cool! Thanks for this info! Now I really wish to get "picked" ! If you don't, there will be 5000 on eBay. I don't see why most people would ever pick an NFT for something they don't actually own copyright to over a physical work with texture that is signed with an individual hand written name. It's not even a gimmicky gif, it's an image of a piece of paper.

Damien Hirst NFT "The Currency", by vvk on Jul 14, 2021 17:21:23 GMT 1, Someone help me outโฆ So even if I donโt necessarily support it, I get the NFT concept for digital art e.g. proving original ownership of art created digitally (Photoshop etc). However in this context who wouldnโt want the original piece?! Since itโs physical/real and as the owner of such you can create your own unique digital representation?! You could even potentially stick your own digital representation of the image up for sale as an NFT yourself thereafter?! Plus you have something nice to stick on your wallโฆ ๐ค You in no way have the right to reproduce or sell a digitized version of the artwork. You will not own the Copyright. i read a story about the pom wonderful lady that bought a replica pearl necklace owned by jackie kenedy, she paid 200K at auction for it and people laughed at her for spending so much on a replica, She and her husband also own the franklin mint. They went on to reproduce the necklace and sell them through the franklin mint and made a cool 43 Million. Makes you wonder what is the actual copyright protect? side note: this family went on to buy up alot of tfarm land in california and pretty much grabbed alot of water rights to the central valley at the same time. Further putting CA in a water crisis (as usual) while they grow their pistachios and pomegranates. www.wonderful.com

I hate NFTs and the very concept they promote, but after sitting back and scratching my noggin I reckon this is genius from Hirst, and I don't say that often about the crazy bastard. Shocked by how much I like the idea actually.

Damien Hirst NFT "The Currency", by whatsthestory on Jul 14, 2021 17:52:16 GMT 1, Another detail I just thought of that is very clever is the grouping into essentially "regular collectors" and "nerdy crypto people".
If the distribution went to mostly average Joe's then of course almost all 10,000 would be redeemed as paper. But a good chunk of these will go to existing NFT collectors and Defi users. They will both be a lot more likely to keep the NFT (although not all) and will create a much more interesting dynamic.

Damien Hirst NFT "The Currency", by nobokov on Jul 14, 2021 18:12:48 GMT 1, It's not original if there's 10000 of them. What are you people thinking? I could draw a smilie face 10,000 times but each of those smilie faces would still be an original. ย
What if you drew it 1,000,000 times? Would it still be worth anything? At what point does the quantity make an original lose its novelty?

At what point does the quantity make an original lose its novelty? It's not about novelty or quality or value or even quantity. It's about if it is hand drawn or hand painted. If it is, then it is an original, even if there are 10 billion that look the same. What's the point of it then?

I assume those who collect NFT will see more value in the more uncommon themes?

just like paper money and most other things of value, they are only as valuable as we believe them to be. 1K, 10K, 100K, 1 million.. all those numbers are very small in the grand scheme of its potential. there is easily over 1 million people in the world that Like hirst work. Weather they are willing to pay for a piece of his is another story.

Damien Hirst NFT "The Currency", by vvk on Jul 14, 2021 21:03:24 GMT 1, I know nothing about NFTs...and haven't even heard of DeFis. defi is short for decentralized finance.
consider all the steps you need to go to to get a traditional loan through a tradtional bank. Now, What if you could get a loan based on the value of all your artwork, no questions asked and it would be done in 1 hour. Now, also consider if you could lend out your art collection and make interest money on loaning out your art while still having full ownership of it. this is the power of DEFI. its will be only a matter of time before art collections will be "tokenized"

Damien Hirst NFT "The Currency", by Shagga on Jul 15, 2021 6:08:18 GMT 1, Some thoughts on the following release:
By forcing you to getting a MetaMask wallet. Someone is making a good "deal" on getting you into the game of crypto. There is probably a little fee of some sort, or atleas quite som T&C you need to confirm by getting this. Their own "platfor" and "currency" is also of high value of HENI getting new users and customers onto their platfor. So for me this is not so much about that A4-paper dotted and signed by Hirst in 2016, it is more a big move in a nother direction/marketing for a completely new market/platform. These are my thoughts and I encourage you all to think: "What does HENI/Hirst" have to gain from selling these "originals" at an really OK price, and a huge volume (10 000) possible new customers. All forced to be introduced to "cryoto, wallet, token, nfts etc". and most will read up etc.
Thoughts?

very clever move to let the customer decide to get the NFT or the physical work.

Metamask wallets are free though, so I don't see why there would be any kickbacks there

Thoughts? Metamask wallets are free though, so I don't see why there would be any kickbacks there
