Damien Hirst NFT "The Currency", by Dice on Jun 2, 2022 9:41:35 GMT 1, I think if you opt out then your reward is your physical painting.
Dont forget this is an experiment and the artwork is the experiment itself. If everyone burns the experiment is over and nobody wants that.
The only way to keep the ball rolling is to make sure some people keep the NFT and I’m sure there will be snippets of info coming out to make people think twice about burning.
The best idea of course is to keep one and burn one, I’m not in that boat but many people are. If you check the stats there are some people buying these in bulk now and prices are rising. It will be interesting to see if they keep rising towards burn date.

Damien Hirst NFT "The Currency", by Dojo the Dog on Jun 3, 2022 10:53:36 GMT 1, I managed to pick two up when the price dipped. I've got physical on the way. The only thing keeping me from exchanging the other is the thought of some giveaway for NFT holders and the recent studio visit opportunity. In reality, I'm not going to be an NFT collector and would rather have the physical over the NFT unless there was some incentive to do otherwise.
Interesting to see a physical was passed at 8k in the most recent Tate Ward Auction.

Damien Hirst NFT "The Currency", by Modern Art Collector on Jun 4, 2022 20:06:09 GMT 1, To me the real ones are worth £8-10k plus dealer markup. A huge edition, but original which adds value. Should climb steadily over the years.
No idea on NFT. I expect many NFTs will be burnt just prior to the deadline, so perhaps they’ll end up being really rare and valued by some.

Damien Hirst NFT "The Currency", by DB on Jun 6, 2022 19:33:18 GMT 1, I only just found out that no two colours on these paintings are the same... each dot is unique to the next, pretty cool! Also found out that the planned currency exhibition will be held at Newport Street Gallery.

Damien Hirst NFT "The Currency", by Daniel Silk on Jun 6, 2022 20:05:33 GMT 1, It really looks like a lot of care and thought goes into Damien Hirst releases, I mean the packaging, framing, and in producing art in a form that will last without getting damaged easy. Do you agree?

Damien Hirst NFT "The Currency", by Lazy Jesus on Jun 11, 2022 9:53:47 GMT 1, Nobody can reliably predict if the physical or NFT will have the greatest long term value. How you define value is also subjective. It will certainly be interesting to watch.
What I can say is the value of ETH has fallen below a key support level and the NFT can be acquired for about £7k (1 eth currently £1,317 and several listings around 5 eth) if you have been waiting for an opportune moment to get involved. Burn before the deadline if you want the physical or keep secure in a digital wallet.

Damien Hirst NFT "The Currency", by Jonas B on Jun 11, 2022 14:08:58 GMT 1, Flurry of these being burned which I would imagine will accelerate towards the deadline. Can't personally see any reason why the NFT will jump any time soon

Damien Hirst NFT "The Currency", by soupy on Jun 11, 2022 15:38:21 GMT 1, the only value holding any NFT is access to future benefits. its like buying into a club membership where there are perks. most recent for the currency was the studio visit and signed artwork given to attendees. however, the longevity of all the perks is never known. it seems like the creators just make the shit up as they go. owning the JPG on the blockchain in and of itself is pretty meaningless.

Damien Hirst NFT "The Currency", by Jonas B on Jun 13, 2022 14:53:41 GMT 1, So only 1356 NFTs exchanged which looks like the physical versions will be far rarer than the NFTs. I can't see that much changing between now and the deadline.

Damien Hirst NFT "The Currency", by RoboJ on Jun 13, 2022 15:53:49 GMT 1, The Mona Lisa will never been taken down to make way for a digital representation. No representation of a thing can ever be perceived with greater valve than the thing it aims to represent.
NFT's will have been fun for some but their value and purpose lays in certification and proof of ownership. The only reason there is value in the currency NFT is its link to an original artwork. Once the deadline passes, they can't be as valuable as an original painting because they are only a representation of one. Yes they may be rare (because nobody wanted one) which may give it a little spike but they will soon die off.

Damien Hirst NFT "The Currency", by Jonas B on Jun 13, 2022 17:31:52 GMT 1, I originally thought about half would burn the NFT and have would keep them but now it looks like the majority will hold the NFT. That may affect what Hirst does next in terms of any kind of reward.
