Banksy Staycation not finished???, by nugget on Aug 21, 2021 16:21:09 GMT 1, I did question why Banksy did'nt paint over the tagging first (as he does with lots of works) as I thought it looked god awful. But I do see what you mean about adding definition to the piece and on reflection I think it probably does look better with the tagging, than it would without.
What is it supposed to say?
I disagree about the tagging competence as it looks like it has been done by someone who has never held a spray can in their life to me. Id say it's wishful thinking to suggest otherwise.
The tagging was not there in July 19 but could still have been tagged a couple of years back.
All that aside, when the wall gets chopped out (which of course it will) would you keep the tagging as part of the piece or not?

As you pointed out yourself, Banksy did not buff the tagging so are we to assume that .. 1. It was applied by him or one of the team. 2.It was considered integral to the work by Banksy.
We know that months of planning would have gone into the locations and imagery used on each specific siteโฆbecause of this I would have to include the tagging as โartist intendedโโฆ. Letโs hope it stays where it is !
