They are all unique works. There is an extensive wait list now at his primary galleries. He is only going to get bigger. These are priced accordingly and will be go in a flash IMO.

Try get an original for that now. And they're on panel and like his shaped works and come ready framed. You won't score one even if you wanted. But you said the crappy Jamie Holmes for 5k is great value 🤣

No I didn’t say it was “great value”. What I said, was that I thought the price for the re-sell on the print was “pretty close”. 😂
Now, If you really want to compare Jammie to Elliot, I’m happy to! Jammie’s a couple (dozen) steps up IMO. And I’m not saying that Elliot’s not a good artist; I just think Jammie’s narrative is going to stand the test of time (he’s already been acquired by major museums), where as Elliot’s might not. That’s all 🤷🏼
Long roads for many of these “hyped” artists, and I see more than a few not being relevant in the not-so-far-off distant future. Zombie formalism ring a bell? 🧟

Eliot Greenwald Night Car (morning star), by orchid on Sept 11, 2021 9:25:05 GMT 1, The website blurbs explains better:
Eliot talks about the repeating compositions of his Night Car series, which involve the same two characters. Night Car is the vessel, and Dweeby Dimlight is the environment. The artist explores the multitude of relationships that two entities can have, un-have, re-learn and forget again within each new piece of the series. This brings pleasing notes of both symmetry and discord to the work. This edition of 14-color silkscreen prints, each uniquely hand-embellished by the artist, encapsulates the paradigms of the entire Night Car series. The sense of adventure, of movement, is unmistakable.
Eliot Greenwald (b.1983, USA) is self-taught artist currently working out of Ashfield, MA. Takin’ the Riverboat out on Snake Lake, was Eliot's first show with Harper's in 2021 in New York City. He has presented his work at group shows in New York, London, and Seoul. During lockdown, the Night Car painting series developed significantly, as his precise use of color on canvas and paper creates scenes that are often eerie despite being full of vibrant accents and contrasts. His work shows an impressive mastery of light and shade, as well as the ability to deploy gradients with impressive effects on the emotional response of the viewer.

Man, that is some meaningless waffle. How does a car "re-learn" something, or even learn something in the first place?

I thought that was the good thing about art. What one person sees as shite, another sees a masterpiece. I myself actually don’t mind it. A couple of years ago I would have thought it was shite..

Yeah I don't think it's shite like I do with Nava, but the level of interest with a lot of collectors who have great collections surprises me. I'm just trying to see what they're so excited about but can't. It's how I drew cars when I was 7, and actually probably still the way I draw'em.

Eliot Greenwald Night Car (morning star), by bbperez1 on Sept 11, 2021 16:11:08 GMT 1, The problem is that MOST of you don’t follow artists closely enough to understand the trajectory an artist will take. I learned of this artist and purchased because of an advisor from Hauser Wirth in mid 2020 - if you guys thought this was expensive wait til he gets his first solo with them.

That’s pretty much how I see Stik. Still amazes me the prices people will pay for what I see as a very basic drawing. That’s the beauty of art.

Eliot Greenwald Night Car (morning star), by Sunny Garcia on Sept 11, 2021 16:23:18 GMT 1, I actually like the work (and love Rob Nava btw)!
I just don’t like the hype, and feel that some people are going to spend buckets of money on prints and/or paintings that may actually not hold their value long term! Not all these emerging artists will make it; that’s all 🤷🏼
N.B. When Rob released with Sorry We’re Closed in 2018, you could have bought all the works. Now, any emerging artist showing with a “good gallery” is snapped up on pure speculation.
Does anyone else not see a problem with this?
Where does Elliot fit into the cannon of art history?
Unless you’re rich, and money doesn’t matter, these are simple things to ask yourself when purchasing art as an investment.

I think that's a good point but am also not sure that it's fair to ask where he fits in to the canon of art history. That just seems like a losing proposition except for a very small handful of artists, and is only effectively answered in retrospect (if at all).

And how can one even predict how it'll fit in the canon of art since the canon of art is based heavily on who collects the work?
Definitely agree that prices are out of control and explode quickly. You can't trust prices today since everyone is out to maximize their profit. Galleries are just shameless. You have galleries out there at the Future Fair hiking up prices by 50% for paintings that were sitting unsold in the artist's last show a few months ago.
If a gallery receives a lot of emails expressing interest in someone, the prices jump immediately. If a gallery receives no interest, the prices jump immediately. The artworld is just a shameless disgusting place most of the time.
