Can't wait for the hammer to go down and the canvas slides back into the frame all stuck back together again.

Banksy - Love Is In The Bin @ Sotheby’s , by mojo on Sept 3, 2021 14:04:54 GMT 1, Perhaps they'll finish the job this time?
link
A Banksy painting that partially shredded itself after being sold at auction is going back under the hammer.
The subversive street artist stunned the art world when his Girl With Balloon attempted to self-destruct in London in 2018 immediately after the conclusion of the auction.
A collector had the top bid at £1.1m.
The canvas was passed through a secret shredder hidden in the large Victorian-style frame, leaving the bottom half in tatters and only a solitary red balloon left on a white background in the frame.
The painting, retitled Love is in the Bin after the shredding, is back on offer and will appear at a Sotheby’s auction in October. It has an estimated selling price of £4-6m.
Girl With Balloon, which depicts a small child reaching up toward a heart-shaped red balloon, was originally stencilled on a wall in east London and has been endlessly reproduced, becoming one of Banksy’s best-known images.
Banksy rose to prominence through a series of graffiti pieces that appeared on buildings across the country, marked by their satirical themes. The self-destruction was the latest in a long history of anti-establishment statements by the artist.
Other recent works included the opening of Dismaland, his dystopian, Disneyland-esque theme park in 2015, which he described as a “family theme park unsuitable for children”.
Love is in the Bin will be offered at auction on 14 October.

Banksy - Love Is In The Bin @ Sotheby’s , by nugget on Sept 3, 2021 21:58:30 GMT 1, Certainly interesting to see they changed the description on the old auction and described the piece in the new auction as "executed in 2018". On the whole Sotheby's site no mention of it being executed in 2006 or gifted to Jo anymore. I guess because it's actually being sold this time, rather than merely being part of an epic publicity stunt.

So you're saying it wasn't sold the first time? So who owned it since 2018 and is selling it now if it wasn't sold? Banksy cashing in on it basically?
Really great that they put this piece into public attention. It's going to be a very interesting month

Im fairly confident it wouldnt have actually been sold though. It was just a publicity stunt. A really good one... thats all it was. As a result of that stunt, a new work was created. Looking forward to seeing the result!

Banksy - Love Is In The Bin @ Sotheby’s , by Dice on Sept 4, 2021 12:46:53 GMT 1, Quite a few originals and prints dedicated to this mysterious ‘Jo’ have come up for auction.
Either they are a very lucky person and given free reign to sell on stuff or maybe they are being sold at auction by Banksy himself under the Jo code name?

Banksy - Love Is In The Bin @ Sotheby’s , by nugget on Sept 4, 2021 14:05:47 GMT 1, Surely there is'nt a single person on earth that would'nt do the same in their position?
Imagine having a blank canvas sat in the shed that 30 seconds later and one COA, is worth 1 million pounds at auction.
What is more shocking, is they are not doing it every week!

Banksy - Love Is In The Bin @ Sotheby’s , by mojo on Sept 4, 2021 14:34:53 GMT 1, I'd love it IF it was a code name used to raise the cash needed for helping the Palestinian kids or paying for the refugee rescue yacht and such like. It's such a good name though and there are a lot of us about so could be anyone? Its certainly not me

Banksy - Love Is In The Bin @ Sotheby’s , by Winchester on Sept 4, 2021 16:33:50 GMT 1, Oh no, one certain person in the entire world is gonna be triggered by this piece again and the dates on the COA.
It's way beyond one person (and I'm not male) , just check out the comments on Sotheby's Instagram. People are bored of this scam and lost the respect of Banksy.
Selling a piece that was supposed to be painted in 2006 - which it wasn't - as executed in 2018 is like me replacing the engine of my 2006 car today and selling it as a 2021 car.
OH and if the description of the piece at the first auction in 2018 was correct, why did it got deleted recently? 3 years later? Who gets back and deletes correct facts? I tell you : nobody. Because it was a backdated piece. Deleting the description is admitting it.
Even in this thread people are suspicious of the "gifted to jo" part. He's cashing right in with backdated pieces chucked on the market by himself.
Edit : the dropping market shows as well how people are turning their backs on him and are sick of fraud.

More utter nonsense. The work may well have been created in 2006 but it was adapted and refined by the application of the shredder in 2108. I think everyone but you can see and recognise that. It was a brilliant piece of theatre that took place in 2018 that created Love is in the Bin. Leave it there please you have made your point on numerous occasions without any one else supporting you. Please stop ruining the thread with such a pedantic and boring commentary on what is a very interesting iconic sale!!

As I understand it the painting was created in 2006 and then framed and gifted to 'Jo' years later on the p r o v i s o (damn that word change thingy) it wouldn't ever be auctioned. Why don't you contact Fiona Bruce and Philip Mould and they can do a forensic test and confirm how old the paint is? It became a new artwork in 2018 after it went through the shredder.

Banksy - Love Is In The Bin @ Sotheby’s , by Winchester on Sept 4, 2021 17:42:10 GMT 1, It's way beyond one person (and I'm not male) , just check out the comments on Sotheby's Instagram.
Well then you understand wrong. The (made up) story of the piece was, that it was gifted in 2006 shortly after "barely legal". When it was gifted, it aparently already had the shredder built in.
Funny enough, in the video of him "building" the shredder (that wouldn't work like this anyway) you see the green ikea lamp "forza" that wasn't published until August 2018.
But we all know the story is bullshit anyway, don't we, jo?
