NFT Art , by theclash on Mar 12, 2021 1:40:10 GMT 1, "Bloomberg reported Thursday afternoon that Tron founder Justin Sun was the winning bidder in the Christie's auction of a Beeple non-fungible token (NFT) that sold for $69.3 million. Sun did not win the auction, a spokesman for Tron told CoinDesk, despite bidding $60 million as the clock wound down." Wait, what?
He lost the Jack Dorsey first โtweetโ & he lost this. He got Tron a bunch of press for free. Forโschizlle. I called a crazy bid price for Beeple and now I think maybe the buyer was not a crypto bro but just a bro, WASSUP Ken (40% chance)

NFT Art , by Gentle Mental on Mar 12, 2021 2:10:09 GMT 1, How much would a full res NFT of Banksyโs Game Changer fetch? Edition of say 300?
100k each - easy.
Point is - Crypto provides the best provenance and liquidity.
Far better than a signature and paper.
Which you or banksy could print with the said full res file.
Oh yes beeple is rubbish. As are most/all NFTs out there now.

Bra, Anything digital can be hacked.
Best proof is a hard paper proof with several creator authenticity checks that only the author and printmaker know.
Best security is analog security, off the grid, why do you think the us has a gov agency that only deals through phones. why do you think infosec experts say crypto wallets are best stored cold.
Edit: it's not easy though..the laundry rate of a coin is at 50-60%

NFT Art , by Gentle Mental on Mar 12, 2021 11:01:31 GMT 1, Will you honestly not buy a Banksy NFT at the usual Banksy print launch price of ยฃ500-1k?
I... donโt ... think... so....
I mean Bluโs Moto deserves to be an NFT. As does Christian Marclayโs The Clock. Or any of Abramovic performance. Even a cold stare. A Gursky mega high res. And yup Hockneyโs iPad drawings.
If the art is good. Itโs good.
NFT is just the tech that makes it accessible to more.
More artists more collectors more art. less barriers of snooty galleries shipping and exchange rates taxes even.
Ok. Thatโs all from me. See you at the KAWS NFT bun fight thread!

Besides the sales of a few artist -most resales, now, on NFTY gateway are really bad. Most NFTs are now selling for much much less than the original retail price. Just look at their sales recently.
Most of your examples are simply ridiculous and make absolutely no sense.
Again if you are looking at the average resell for NFT ... it doing horribly already. Grimes, Beeple NBA are all nothing much more than a marketing ploy to get dummies in this. Again all anyone here has to do is now look at recent resales for most NFTs and 99 percent are already a bust.
Coinbase and NFT companies want to go public now, before regulation starts happening and takes 50 percent off the value of crypto and 90 percent off the current NFT values. This is all now getting way too much attention for regulators to ignore.
One work from Yellen or Gates and value of bitcoin drops thousands wait until the regulators start talking. I think NFT and crypto companies want to get as many people while the pandemic has them stuck at home looking for easy money. Most collectors will no not fine any success with NFTs as average sales on nifty gateway and other service are now reselling for much less than retail.

NFT Art , by jimmyjam on Mar 12, 2021 20:23:29 GMT 1, So basically it was all a massive publicity stunt for NFT - the buyer is "the pseudonymous founder and financer of Metapurse, the largest NFT (unique digital assets) fund in the world"
When it comes to these novelty art sales - David Choe/physical art still wins with facebook stock. Btw, most tech people are not really the best people to be pushing art and you really should not be listening to them about investing in art. Many of these people are males who really only care about the tech world and have somewhat a childish art taste - that are extremely obsessed with sci-fi fiction / fantasy.
There is a reason why there is absolutely NO art scene in the most expensive place to live in America; the bay area/silicon valley. All the main/major LA/NYC art galleries that set up another gallery in the bay area during the tech boom are dying. You talk about art with anyone in the bay area/nyc tech scene and they look at you like you are simply wasting their time with complete nonsense. These are the very last people you should be listening to when it comes to art investments. These people are only for the tech aspect of NFTs and the potential money behind that for their start ups, that is it. They don't care about art or the overall art market. Not at all.
I really hope - we as people - don't allow the bay area/nyc tech to try and take over another industry. Every industry they touch they either completely been take over by them and they completely ruined it. Either way this not good for art at all. This is only going to be about money and that is it.
Lush used to be an artist now he's 24/7 money money NFT NFT propaganda marketing machine all day. I can't even look at his IG anymore. Some of these artists grossly became extremely greedy and lame on instagram just posting on IG all day about NFT and that they just made $200,000 from their loser fans... please keep buying more of this shit. This going to start hurting artists more than helps soon.
The art market was already getting very shady with the ghost bids in auction houses but this take everything to a whole new level of chaos. This is really going to mess up that art market for awhile. Only a handful of people will do well on this and everyone else is really going to get burnt so, so badly. I'm really NOT going to touch any NFT unless it's a NFT that comes with an actual signed edition print or actual physical piece of art - which case the NFT is basically just a COA and isn't worth more than that.

In one sense I understand it, in another sense I am happy for those finding success in it, but ultimately this type of shit does not suit my tastes or fall into the category of something I could ever say "I need that". I will keep my ears open to hearing how this journey goes as it's certainly on a bit of a ride, but I would be extremely surprised if I ever got into this myself!
