Invader Alert 2020 Print, by Viennese on Jan 18, 2022 21:38:03 GMT 1, Also went with a simple white frame and white matting.
It’s quite wavy so will drop by my framer again if it doesn’t set.

Can you ask your framer where he hinged it from? it does look like its hinged all the way around in a few spots where the paper dips....like 5 points on each side and right on the edge of the paper. if this is correct then it will never flatten and will only continue to ripple.

Invader Alert 2020 Print, by ststwalls on Jan 19, 2022 0:53:08 GMT 1, Also went with a simple white frame and white matting. It’s quite wavy so will drop by my framer again if it doesn’t set. Beautiful, congratulations. I think there is an underlying problem: maybe the print was not brought to the framer's shop perfectly flat? We know by now that for purchases made on La Space Shop the print arrived rolled up. The paper is thick and difficult to lay... 4 books on the corners won't do for long... not this kind of paper. I used a little trick: I had the framer give me some acid-free cardboard, I rolled/folded it with the opposite rolling direction of the Alert 2020. Then I put the print inside this cardboard sandwich, the print straightened itself. There was a contrast between the rolling direction of print and the rolling direction of the sandwich cardboard which resulted in the print becoming perfectly straight. I hope that maybe this will help in the future. Then, in addition (for those who trust that they will do no harm) you can do a roll-up in the opposite rolling direction of the print.
Having said that, there is the second problem that KGR has rightly expressed. How it was glued. I think your framer made a fair point...which is to glue it in a few places, at the cost of showing those ugly waves on the paper. The alternative was to glue it in several places, but for conservation reasons that's not the best. Hopefully he used the right removable gluing! A good solution was to put (instead of making the print floating) a cardboard that would pinch the print and consequently help not to show those waves. I have attached the type of frame Invader used for the exhibition in Ljubljana, I mean just as you see in the photo.
Anyway, good choice for the frame, it's the one I prefer for these prints! If I were you I'd probably leave it like that, the print is very delicate and precious, taking it to the framer would mean opening the frame, adding more tape or something else... see for yourself if it bothers you so much. The fact is that in this state you see it and so it will remain.

Invader Alert 2020 Print, by Viennese on Jan 19, 2022 1:36:45 GMT 1, Thanks a lot @kgr and @ststwalls for the advice! It is much appreciated!!!
I actually was so lucky to have a work colleague pick mine up in Ljubljana so it was never rolled. 😬
My framer assured me he took extra care and as you said, attached it with special tape not all the way around as “less is more” for conservation purposes. He also used a special tape that is removable.
He told me that the wavyness also comes from the strong temperature drop. He kept the print in a steel cabinet for safekeeping and wasn’t expecting the temperature to drop that much… (his shop is always heated but I guess there is a microclimate in the steel cabinets).
Thanks also for the tip with the cardboard, I haven’t noticed that Invader did that! I will definitely think about it and give it another look when I’ll be back home in a month or two!

Thanks also for the tip with the cardboard, I haven’t noticed that Invader did that! I will definitely think about it and give it another look when I’ll be back home in a month or two! What i was saying was it seems he has hinged (taped) the work in a few places (4-5) on each side. this will cause the rippling on the sides....you can see its in even places in that photo. The print wont ripple like that from just temperature changes I'm sorry to say. Ask how many pieces of tape he used an if he put then close to the edge....this is what causes the rippling as the paper is held in to many spots and it does ripple because the paper cant expand and contract with temperature changes (so that part of what he is saying is correct if he used 4 bits of tape ,on each side)
STSTwalls.... I wouldn't recommend rolling a print in the opposite direction. Paper has a memory and when its rolled the fibres stretch in one direction which is why its hard to flatten some prints. rolling it in the opposite direction stretches the fibres the other way which actually makes the paper worse....for quality paper anyway. cheap paper its ok but good rag paper I wouldnt roll it the other way.
Been a framer for over 30 years just in case your wondering.

Invader Alert 2020 Print, by Fuzzyduck121 on Jan 20, 2022 8:49:23 GMT 1, Why anyone would Float this is beyond me
Having seen and felt the paper etc and the style it is blatantly obvious that a mount is the way to go
The obsession for floating stuff is crazy and isn’t good for the print and unless it is done to perfection it will often look bad
If one is being honest this isn’t a great quality work compared to the embossed prints and the pow paper quality.
Mine will be framed with a mount as they were at the show itself

Invader Alert 2020 Print, by yoss on Jan 20, 2022 15:56:22 GMT 1, As my frame-job was shown in my earlier post, I definitely wanted to mount mine due to the overall size of the print….that’s a bit of weight to be floated in my opinion…
Also due to the size, I wanted my mat to ensure no future waviness to the print…
Again, art is subject to each and every person…my views and my framing were my personal preference…

Invader Alert 2020 Print, by Balboa on Jan 20, 2022 21:00:51 GMT 1, What's the purpose of posting pictures of three prints if you are only selling one? Is this what the kids refer to as 'flexing' these days?

If any of you had the opportunity to buy three prints you'd have taken it also... im sure many folk on here would have bought 3 if they could have. That said, I dont think too many would have then have posted a picture demonstrating that they had 3 purchased at cost whilst selling one of said 3 at a premium on a forum full of folks who tried and failed to get at cost one on release. Assuming they were purchased at cost obviously, maybe you paid £30k for the 3 of them

Personally I would have posted a photo of the one you’re selling. Some people would have tried hard out to get just one to cherish and own (I know I did). You are kind of rubbing salt into the unhealed wounds of people that couldn’t buy and also sticking a middle finger to Invader and his one per customer intentions. Good on you for getting 3, that alone is a great feat. Well done. Good luck with your sale.
