This piece was universally panned on release. People tried and failed to flip this on release...just use the search function on this forum. It is an iconic image for all the wrong reasons... It's bit like hanging up an advert for Thalidomide...tasteless and crass. Invader doesn't "remake things in his own style" - he appropriated an iconic computer game designed by Tomohiro Nishikado and other 8-bit imagery which already existed. Converting an image into 8-bit is not unique to Invader. Using rubiks cubes to make art is not unique to Invader.

The Marlboro design does not lend itself to Invader's style. It's just red and white triangles with black writing, and once pixelated it sucks as an image

Not to argue but to get a response. This is the type of dialogue that good art inspires. This print got people to stop, think and express themselves with conversations which otherwise wouldn't have happened.
