Phillips Art Auctions, by classy on Aug 18, 2008 16:58:45 GMT 1, Agreed. There are some nice pieces sprinkled in there that will be at least interesting to see what they go for. The BAST and Swoon pieces will be telling. Also, I am interested to see what the "fine art" Shepard pieces go for.

Phillips Art Auctions, by jfury on Aug 18, 2008 17:06:22 GMT 1, Also, I'm not clued up on the complete story behind the Beejoir 'LV child' scultures... but I do seem to remember it going very Pete Tong ... 'Estimate £5,000 - £7,000'. Isn't that slightly high? Or have I missed something... as usual?
....this is a different version NOT the small charity ones, this is quite a big sculpture and is an edition of 5. The original price I think was £6K...I am sure somone can clarify?

Phillips Art Auctions, by Agent Provocateur on Aug 18, 2008 17:06:50 GMT 1, Previous 'top' auctions have had authenticated by 'Pest control' on a listing for a Banksy piece... is it not hightly dubious buying a street piece ('Cowchuter'* on road sign) without this provenance? I'm sure I saw that on ebay a while back... and wasn't concvinced at all.
BTW I made that title up!

Phillips Art Auctions, by Pattycakes on Aug 18, 2008 17:12:39 GMT 1, This sale is so bad I don't quite know where to begin, what I don't understand is why there is sunch an insaenly strange mixture of things. Their catalogue design is second to none, but they desperately need a specialist in there who can curate the sales in the right direction, this auction just looks as though they were deperate for material and put any old crap in. Also the estimates are all over the place.

Phillips Art Auctions, by lee3 on Aug 18, 2008 17:14:27 GMT 1, Underwhelming is an understatement from my vantage point. I have no interest in anything offered and find it almost humorous that the sale includes watches, toys, and desks. Definitely a warm up and I would expect to see more than a couple of buy ins at those levels for the street/urban lots.

It could well be a print from a series that is numbered that is hand finished. Whether or not the entire run is hand finished I have no idea, but that is how i would interpret the description.

Phillips Art Auctions, by Agent Provocateur on Aug 18, 2008 17:27:47 GMT 1, Cheers lee... I understand what you're saying. Would have thought it would be called a limited edition of 'X' with hand finishing then tho. Just my take.
Did anyone see the Dirty Funker 'Radar Rat' CD, 'Petrolhead' CD/12", another album or 12" plus a Banksy flyer all in for 'round £800... all I can say is I agree with winter ;D

Phillips Art Auctions, by snausages on Aug 18, 2008 17:52:12 GMT 1, nah, drewatts gets worst auction catalogue ever easily although this is a little ridiculous too.
I think Phillips is a bit late to the party and don't have the guts to do a full on street art auction so they're sprinkling it in. Or better yet smart enough not to do a full on street art auction. This will just be another nail in the coffin anyway. I'm constantly surprised at what people pay for crap but curious to see who steps up to drop £10k on any of those beej works.

Phillips Art Auctions, by Deleted on Aug 18, 2008 18:14:03 GMT 1, I spoke to Phillips about this sale when i was there last, they have done it as a sort of "Fun" sale, its just supposed to be a auction where there is something for everyone. For the more serious there is always the Vision 21 or the more regular Art sales there (one in March i think).
