Edgar Plans ๐ช๐ธ Sculpture โข Madrid โข NBA Basketball , by New Wave Dave on Jan 17, 2022 3:06:18 GMT 1, The thing to really watch with any project like this is what happens to the purse, post reveal. Usually a roadmap points to a certain amount being reallocated into the project and used to bolster it somehow for the gain of all. That's the premise. If you see huge amounts being transferred to other wallets and then out via bitcoin and Binance, that's a classic pump and dump. Pump it up and dump the project.
One of the few beauties of the blockchain is all this is transparent so you might not know whose wallet it is going into but you can at least tell if they are siphoning it out of the project.
I was in a project where they transferred most of the money to a wallet that then bought a Bored Ape. It was like, 'oh, I see. Create a crappy project to earn enough to buy into a real project. Sigh'

Theyโre back tracking that decision as it was only Hinmanโs personal opinion.

Edgar Plans ๐ช๐ธ Sculpture โข Madrid โข NBA Basketball , by Horatio Nelson on Jan 17, 2022 9:45:32 GMT 1, People need to chill. 3.6K different owners is a very good result and diversity of owners. Volume is probably the highest ever in OpenSea after just 3.5 hours of trading. They were also pretty transparent on that friends and family and team members would be getting access to buying more than 2. Only complaint is they could ofc held some for the raffle release. That said - all in all a very good release and promising start for the project. And yes (and for full transparency) - I got lucky and purchased two early in the WL release. Sadly I think you are living on a different planet, although I understand why some who purchased two of these would want to give the project a positive gloss. Here's how I see it:
- From the very start of the project, it was clear that they were all about numbers (of community members) and maximum hype, running whitelist and invite competitions to obtain exponential growth of members on the discord server. That is not great to see, but does not automatically mean the project won't be a success. At the very least, it does make you ask questions such as: (i) how can they create a meaningful community if it is grown so quickly to such a large size and (ii) why do they need the community to grow to 20x mint size (and really 40x number of people that can actually mint successfully if each person can mint 2)?
- People who wanted a space on the whitelist (besides winning social media competitions) really had to grind - literally, spending hours and hours chatting on the server, making drawings, producing Lil Heroes models out of food. You could describe those users as community stalwarts, given how much time they invested in the project in the run-up to mint.
- It seems that even a significant amount of those people who were whitelisted were unable to mint in the end due to (i) the fact that their wallet address wasn't given permissions by the team, despite their WL status being promised and (ii) the contract exploit/minting by private sale participants. That is naturally going to upset people who invested so much time to help the community grow. At a basic level, this is disappointing for those who held whitelist spots, but more fundamentally, by alienating those people who helped to build the community from bottom up, you are destroying the core of the community before the project has even got off the ground. A really bad move.
- And we haven't even got to the raffle yet. I was infuriated by the requirement for individuals to pre-fund their wallets with 0.4 ETH. I appreciate that this helps to eliminate bots/accounts created en masse/people are aren't financially able to purchase if selected. But with transaction costs and gas fees in mind, I also thought it was a daft requirement given the sheer numbers and low chance of being selected. Let's say you have 100k people (not an unreasonable number based on size of Discord server) incurring $50 on fees to obtain ETH (and swap it to fiat or other crypto back if unsuccessful in the raffle), that's $5m of fees spent by people just to be eligible for the raffle. In my view, that's quite a big ask in any circumstances (even when it's the norm for many drops now). But where the raffle doesn't take place either because of an exploit in the smart contract, or simply because private sale/WL are able to mint absurd amounts, then it's pretty shambolic behaviour to get the entire community to waste funds collectively in stockpiling the ETH for something which was never going to get off the ground.
- And worst of all, rather than owning any of these problems, chats/comment functions have been disabled, a false narrative has been espoused about how this was the plan all along etc.
- Bottom line is that whatever genuine community there might have been (if there was one at all) has been utterly used for the benefit of a few whales and Edgar/his coterie. In the NFT space community is more valuable than the artwork and floor price. This could still be successful in the short/medium or even long term as a financial investment, relative to mint price or even current floor price, but that doesn't take away from the magnitude of damage done.
- PS 3.6k different owners after hours of trading is no surprise, as the wallets who grabbed dozens have mostly sold out their holdings, so the ownership is spread out a bit more.

I feel sorry for the artist and the community being used and abused.
this project has absolutely nothing to do with art and community!

This all sounds the same as every print , sculpture edition that has high demand.. nothing is easy to get when everyone wants it..
This release was always going to upset the masses sadly

"We're going to post an announcement very soon, please be patient! We received way more demand than expected, almost all WL members minted 2 FTs and we reached Sold Out in less than one hour. We will get back to you very soon."
Personally my favorite part of the post is, "We received way more demand than expected", really??? cause you guys were pretty good about hyping the Shit out of this project!!!

Edgar Plans ๐ช๐ธ Sculpture โข Madrid โข NBA Basketball , by Horatio Nelson on Jan 17, 2022 11:47:43 GMT 1, It's not about that. It's about wanting to feel like a valued community member. All people wanted was a chance to mint, in return for their work building the community in recent weeks. It is totally possible in the NFT space for people to miss out on minting (not getting WL place, not winning raffle/gas wars etc), yet they will continue to pour hours of their time into the community despite not owning the piece because the creators value them as community members (and potential purchasers one day, if not day 1 minters or secondary buyers).
The issue here is that EP team deliberately went out of their way to bring huge numbers into the community, exploit them for content (i.e. creativity/posts to hype of the discord and fill social media with - which creates a cycle of more people joining the community and doing the same), giving many people WL spots and giving everybody a chance to enter the raffle, only to screw up the WL (by their own admission/lie, they did not correctly anticipate the WL/private sale demand and they actually failed to register certain people for the WL who had been given spots) and to such an extent that the raffle never even happened. It seems like the inherent design of the project meant that 99% of the community never even stood a chance.

ย It seems like the inherent design of the project meant that 99% of the community never even stood a chance. ย Edgar Plans is money. He can piss in your faces and people will keep coming back because of the dolla dolla bills y'all. That's capitalism baby!

100% this, they used the community to hype the living shit out of this only to sell to their elite rich buddy's Problem is now with only a small community not grown organically who knows where this will go Great returns now, will dip on reveal and then we will see what will happen, influencer's and hype only get you so far

Long story shortโฆlast year at Cesar Pietteโs launch on niftygateaway AR kept a 10-20% of the nft for themselves in 1-2 different accounts then started selling them at 3times the mint price in the marketplace. They got caught and been banned by NG. Thanks for that!

Social media, influencers, wanky digital capitalisation of art and greed. All hiding behind a project the artist says addresses social issues. I donโt like to call names but what a class A c*nt.

The fake ones are selling for under 1 Ethereum and have no number assigned to them. They look exactly like the real ones as the image has not been released publicly so the same black icon appears on the real and fake ones.
