Tend to agree with this. Surely it’s only a matter of time before his actions are being watched by journalists, police, fans etc etc. If anything I think he needs to go even further underground now to survive  I don't know - there's 2 issues here. The first is getting away with it at the time the second is the "authorities" coming to find/prosecute him later. Nothing really changes with the first and the second simply requires a denial if he's painted on public property. Everyone will know it was him but unless he is caught in the act it will be very difficult to prove.
One of the beauty about Banksy's anonymity is that initially it wasn't the personality that people were interested in, but the art and how it touched people.
It seems that the longer Banksy's identity is protected the harder that it becomes to seperate what he does from the fact that he remains a mystery. But for me I love the fact that his identity is protected, as I do feel that this focuses on his art, rather than encouraging pseudo intellectualising his work along the lines of "clearly he's done that as a direct result of his upbringing etc." Which all too many art critics are guilty of, and more often than not are exceptionally wide of the mark. One of Banksy's enduring elements to his work is that without any preconceptions about his background you take his work at face value.
I also imagine that a lot of his work has the permission of the relevant owners, and is now not a case of Banksy purely bombing wherever he fancies.

Because then it would all look like a gimmick - and he had to rely on this gimmick to get to where he is (well partly)
I was really hoping that he was keeping it a secret because he is already someone very famous, and he had to stay undercover...
So if he's just some guy, then he should just show up and say hi, stop the gimmick, be a man! like D*face, like Shep, like every kick arse street artist out there, the face is never thing, the work will stand for itself.

Gimmick - he decided to retain his anonymity (for whatever reason) and allow his art to speak for itself. Invader does the same thing, and his profile is no-where near as high as Banksy's so i don't see what difference it makes whether you know who he is or not. Why does this matter?

It's hard to separate the artist from the art.
After so many years, and so many media spins, Banksy's anonymity plays a HUGE part in his art.
it's like HELLO KITTY - you never see HELLO KITTY's mouth. And that's incredibly brilliant, because without knowing what the mouth looks like, you see HELLO KITTY expressing YOUR feeling.
Another good example is god.
They are all what you want it to be, that's why you love them.
Without knowing the physical BANKSY, you are free to set your own context with the art. It will feel real and true to you because the artist is who you want it to be.
So I stand corrected, revealing who the man is will REALLY take a big chunk of fun from enjoying his work.
Stay anonymous, Mr B. We like it like that.
