Signed Limited Edition of 100 from Rashid Johnson, Kaws, by Hairbland on Jan 30, 2022 5:21:15 GMT 1, I think the music industry has lower standards when it comes to what they consider to be signed. I've bought records in the past that were states to be signed but were all robo signed. Hopefully for those who bought, they're hand signed. It seems like this whole thing was dreamed up by someone who thought, hey art is selling like hotcakes. Let's slap some hot auction names on here and art collectors will eat it up. The pricing is aimed toward art collectors but is actually ignorant of the art market itself. Many of these artists have cheaper editions and the price should have varied based on the artist. They should've had the actual musicians sign these as well. The “music industry” does not peddle robo-signatures as signed.

Signed Limited Edition of 100 from Rashid Johnson, Kaws, by Wearology on Jan 30, 2022 5:49:08 GMT 1, Well played forum - congrats to all those that got the art they wanted. Amazing public and private manipulatiom of signed versus hand signed versus good imagery versus bad. To those champions that secured the Kaws extra well played. Nice to see the art world take some notes from the sneaker and skater manipulators. Until the next drop - don’t forget to look at this shiny object while those in the know buy Mortimer buy.

Then why do I have two robosigned records in my garage? Google "autopen music industry"

I don't think this was forum manipulation. It was an example of a company that doesn't know what they're doing when it comes to selling prints.

Agreed. Plus all prints are still available
Except Kaws’, which IMO is one of his worst paintings/prints
So really there was nothing to score, and Nobody to manipulate

Very surprised by Ruscha… but I’ve not rushed to buy either, so shouldn’t be so surprised! I guess prints with books, or mounted on record sleeves, don’t tend to be as popular as straight prints for some reason! Also the usual buyers of these type of artists probably don’t know much about NTWRK!
Still tempted by the Ruscha though.

It's interesting. Obvious thing is that users/followers of NTWRK are more tuned in to a particular type of artist (KAWS being the prime example....)
Other than that, size, format (giclee) and image may not appeal in the case of some of the artists. On the linen background (especially the black) I think these will display well.
Both the Ruscha and the Party seem very typical of the artists work (or at least one strand of it), although personally I'm not a big fan of Ruscha.
In the case of the Party, his IG post explains the background/context and the imagery and colours are very characteristic. The modest size is not unusual for his prints, and don't think there is anything remotely like this available at this price. I suspect it will sell out in time.

The show is on a LACMA for a little while and people may see a work they like and have the opportunity to buy a version of it. The whole immediate drop and cop culture is wank.

Signed Limited Edition of 100 from Rashid Johnson, Kaws, by Hairbland on Jan 30, 2022 13:57:01 GMT 1, The “music industry” does not peddle robo-signatures as signed. Then why do I have two robosigned records in my garage? Google "autopen music industry" Because you foolishly bought them? I did Google, not much, usual conspiracy chatter on the odd Reddit thread and Twitter fools. I’ve worked for majors, indies, artist mgt, etc just not done on any regular basis. That said, most musicians I’ve worked with/for - a wide range from Pete Townshend to Prince (some of the “P’s) hate signing autographs and would insist on personalizing as they know the “fans” will otherwise put them on EBay. Most musicians offering “signed copies” are doing so through their personal merch sites. If some are offering auto pen copies (which dates back to the secretaries signing Beatles pics) then shame on them and those unaware of what they spend their money on.

Are you saying that signed copies through a musician's personal merch site is often autopenned?

Valid point, however, the strategy behind these was not to release them all in the museum gift shop coinciding with the exhibition opening, or through a resectable print shop, or even their own microsite dedicated to the history of Interscope and giving context to their 30 year history and each of the specific albums. They deliberately released them on a hype-driven app and released at staggered time slots to feed a "drop" culture, in which (to use your words) "if something doesn’t sell out immediately it’s a failure."
Not exactly the same as seeing Jasper Johns prints still available at source from ULAE (even though Eddie Martinez's are all sold out).

Just got rid of the dining room table to make room for a record bench.

I’m not so sure the Nina is up now and hanging around. It’s a good sign more of these will end up with people that want to keep them.

Signed Limited Edition of 100 from Rashid Johnson, Kaws, by ca on Jan 31, 2022 6:42:20 GMT 1, If you like the image/artist and want to support this charity, go for it but thought I’d share why I’m hesitating
- NTWRK is sketchy af, you read tons of comments on IG and UAA of crap service and people waiting on orders or damages in transit. This specific release is supposed to be shipped in June/July. Some risks there considering the strict and obvious no refund/we don’t give a shit policy
- records (and most random items) are not considered fine art and are valued accordingly (especially giclées), $2500 is already high for this and most artists in this lineup. You shouldn’t compare to print edition prices
- we have yet to see real in person pictures of this so you could end up with a $20 looking record with a $2480 signature
If you like the image/artist and want to support this charity, go for it but thought I’d share why I’m hesitating

Had the exact same worry on quality. Nina’s Instagram says “created in Pace prints studio” nudged me to pull the trigger. Still worried though. Haha.
