There were 2 last minute bids which extended the sale for a few minutes but then it quickly petered out. IMO, this particular artnet auction was a complete bust...very few bids through out the entire sale. Pretty sure the hammer for Suiko was $4900?

Now that I've got my hands on them I can see why people were concerned about the glitter aspect and whether to frame or not.
Without trawling through all 61 pages can anyone who has kept track of the debate please summarize what the general opinion was please?
Framed or unframed?
Also, this massive writing etc is driving me insane.
My two Empresses arrived a couple of weeks back and I love them.

There was also talk of using non-reflective glass to dull down the reflectiveness of the piece.
Aesthetically speaking, I think these look anemic on the wall, as is, due to how big they are, yet how thin they are. Just my humble opinion, but these scream for a thick, box(white,black or red)frame to give it an amazing presence on the wall.
In short, imho framing isnโt necessary, but will give this piece the wall presence it deserves.

I agree. I think they'll double in appeal with a chunky frame to show them off and they're nice enough already so it will definitely be a good result..
It will also eliminate the need to wait and see if the glitter is a dust gatherer or not or whether the cleaner manages to stick loads of yellow duster fluff to them even when she's been asked not to go anywhere near any artwork..

First impression is that lighting is a real challenge with it. In natural light the reflections are really distracting, and in very bright-but-not-direct artificial light I think the glitter looks a bit gaudy. However, in direct artificial light the glitter looks great and really draws you in to the piece.
So, I think I'm going to put it in the hallway, which away from any windows but it can also benefit from a spotlight on it.
The first thing my kid did was rub the glitter, so I am now considering framing it too lol

I'm enjoying how it changes throughout the day in different light. Sometimes the glitter is pronounced, other times subdued.
So much to see in this wonderful Hirst print.
