And anyone that bought an AP can send it in to be signed by Banksy. This is why the APs are £250 more. It's to reward those that just liked the image and not because they thought it was an official Banksy print. Don't take my word for it, but I've bought 3 regular and 2 APs...

I would have totally believed you...... if you had bought 30 regular and 20 AP's

True. But there are legit stuff out there without any receipt. The roller zorro image for example comes to mind. You could have it printed at the POW open day and people didn’t know it was by Banksy

i agree it is misleading bren but I guess they aren’t lying when they say he was the artist…confusing tho if your new to collecting. I bought a lot of the boards as I’m a fan of skateboarding and banksy but I’m under no illusion that’s they are still connected other than the initial gift of the image.

You can't "give" an image away without a legal contract stating that you consign all rights to the owner. Otherwise IP stays with the creator. Clown and Stowe are just greedy chancers taking the piss out of the fact that they know Banksy can't assert his rights. They helped him out 20 years ago, he gave them a design for their skate brand of which they agreed to print 100. They couldn't and didnt sell 100. A couple of decades later when Banksy went stratospheric, they got greedy and chanced it by producing the rest of the boards they couldn't sell. They scammed everyone by marketing the link back to Banksy, even they couldn't believe the buzz it caused. Now they're just being greedy Clowns and rinsing it for all it's worth. It's like producing commercial prints from a sketch in your blackbook that people have signed or drawn in, or Wall of Sound making prints from their record cover designs. At best, unethical. |
