You should not be charged duty, assuming they send delivery duty paid. This doesn’t protect you from VAT though.

Invader • 3D Little Big Space • Sculpture, by stendhal on Jul 7, 2022 21:44:01 GMT 1, A few Invader Sculpture auctions finishing in the next few hours, some with NO Bids! 😳 Surprised? If they don't sell I think that will make the flippers nervous. More Flippers than actual buyers? Could be 😉 The prices might start to tumble, maybe $600 or $700 in a couple of weeks, what do you predict? Maybe similar pattern to the Banksy Welcome Mats? Lots buying to flip, but the real demand isn't really that high. www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_nkw=invader+3d+space+big&_sacat=0&LH_Auction=1&_sop=15Hi guys, I’m new here. Art collector from Paris with a strong interest in Invader’s work. I have been reading this forum I didn’t know (I collect mostly artists not represented here) with much pleasure.
I have been collecting edition pieces for 20 years. On this work I think there are many things to say.
1) Impact of the big edition
Of course, it will have an impact on the value because at any time, for the next decades, this artwork will be relatively easy to find : regularly available in auctions, galleries or on eBay & Co. But my guess is that it will only prevent this piece from reaching a €10k, €20k or €30k price. It is by far the most recognizable, desirable, and easy to display artwork by Invader as of today.
Prints are very nice, notably those with relief but not really what you dream of. Mosaics are incredible but small and hard to sublimate. The Invader 3D has it all : the beauty, the style, the size… the philosophy of Invader’s art. My guesstimate is that this piece should reach €3k to €5k within the next 10 years as a standard price.
A comparable piece that I own : Harpe de couleurs by Arman, 1975 : edition of 2500. This is a very very desirable edition by the famous artist Arman. Very recognizable and well executed. After are almost 50 years they are still in very good condition. I don’t know the original price but I guess it was quiet low as a 2500 edition is huge for the time. Although it is even better than other sculpture of unique pieces, prices do not go over €2,5k to €3,5k which is a very good deal given the beauty of this artwork. But there is less demand for Arman than for Invader and… big difference, Arman has produced many many artworks (espacially edition pieces) compared to Invader. Invader has a very low production.

2) Impact of manufacturing As some of you have said, and they are right, quality will be a major criteria : is the Invader 3D well made, is it fragile, will the colors hold well (black and white colors are the biggest concern)? We just don’t know because none of us has seen it. BUT, let’s trust Invader. Some said that earning €2,5m within 2 hours is almost a steal but, there are probably months of work behind all this and many many tests with different potential manufacturers to achieve the right piece. My guess is that it will be very nicely made.
A comparable that quiet didn’t work (but was not really intended to be an a genuine artwork) : Target by Jasper Johns (1970), edition of 22 500. I have owned several of them just for resale. The quality was not very good, the plastic box of this object was getting “dry” and was eventually breaking when opening the box. Also, it was hard to display it and had a low artistic interest. It was sold to be used as something fun to make your own target with Jasper Johns style. Prices are quiet low, around €300 to €700… but not to bad as they were sold just for a few dollars (see the link below, clearly overpriced and not selling for this one). But if you compare, how could this thing be sold for almost €500 and say that Invader 3D will be worth 300€ in two months? Does not make any sense...
www.artsy.net/artwork/jasper-johns-target-1970
3) My guess
Based on my collector experience and understanding of Invader’s approach to art. First, it will be very nice to have your own one and just take pleasure in it. Manufacturing will be very good, I guess.
Secondly, €500 for this piece is like it was almost free. I know some of Invaders fans have limited means and are not art collectors but trust me : €500 for this piece is a total steal. Many of us will have paychecks raises of such amount this year just because of inflation. Thus, it will strongly increase in value over the next decade with a target at €5k for a piece in excellent condition or an unboxed one. That's what I think. Times when you could get one at €900 on ebay will be seen as a gilded age. And I think Invader might not do this again; I would say it was a onetime opportunity.
My advice if you don’t have much money and managed to buy your own Invader 3D : keep it! Never sell it! You just got a musuem piece (ok you're not alone). Many will offer you to buy it over and over but always refuse! It's yours!

Invader • 3D Little Big Space • Sculpture, by The Origin on Jul 7, 2022 22:06:42 GMT 1, Great post and some interesting insights.
Hoping the quality is good on these and looking forward to it arriving.
At $500 it was a no brainer for anyone, be it as an art investment or as an affordable way to display an Invader in your home.

Invader • 3D Little Big Space • Sculpture, by ststwalls on Jul 8, 2022 1:55:29 GMT 1, Does we have to pay also for import duty ? am I wrong or we already paid duty on invoice? anyone can confirm? Interesting point. I believe that in Europe you have to pay for import. I emailed them asking why I paid 50€ import taxes when as soon as the piece arrives in my country I am sure I will have to pay them. They replied that they could not tell me anything but that they will make some information about shipping and taxes public this week.
I have never paid tax to the country of export, in fact it seems very strange to me, we will understand in a while.

Good to read an informed post from an established collector. Gotta say I agree with all you’ve said. Welcome to the forum (I hope you’ve got a thick skin!)

Invader has a very low production.
www.artcurial.com/fr/lot-arman-1928-2005-harpe-de-couleurs-1975-serigraphie-sur-plaque-de-plexiglass-3852-1302) Impact of manufacturing As some of you have said, and they are right, quality will be a major criteria : is the Invader 3D well made, is it fragile, will the colors hold well (black and white colors are the biggest concern)? Does not make any sense...
www.artsy.net/artwork/jasper-johns-target-19703) My guess
It's yours!
You have explained very well the opinion of many of us. Thank you Think exactly like you Word Word Word Word

Art collector from Paris with a strong interest in Invader’s work. I have been reading this forum I didn’t know (I collect mostly artists not represented here) with much pleasure. I have been collecting edition pieces for 20 years. On this work I think there are many things to say. 1) Impact of the big edition Of course, it will have an impact on the value because at any time, for the next decades, this artwork will be relatively easy to find : regularly available in auctions, galleries or on eBay & Co. But my guess is that it will only prevent this piece from reaching a €10k, €20k or €30k price. It is by far the most recognizable, desirable, and easy to display artwork by Invader as of today.

we reassure ourselves as best we can. I think the volume of edition is too important. Hirst's currency is a fairly recent example. Lots of work, original pieces, status of the artist... The supply seems to be higher than the demand and the prices are not those expected for some. If you're happy with your 3d that's the main thing like I'm happy with my hirst. To conclude, I don't think that prices will go crazy around 3K or 5k in the years to come because the offer will be identical and the number still as important. The only future is that it remains unique but I doubt it, too many busines behind all that

Invader • 3D Little Big Space • Sculpture, by 18921892 on Jul 12, 2022 12:52:31 GMT 1, I think of this release similar to the Ai Weiwei hand/finger resin cast, they average around $5k. If you think about it, this piece has many more similarities to his street pieces than his prints. Fantastic buy whoever bought, why these are great value compared to buying a print or pack on the secondary.

Twelve years ago they would have been talking about this on the Kid Robot forum. They actually wouldn’t, there was very little art discussion on KR. Even forum members with big art collections moved over here to discuss art. Come to think of it, what did people discuss on the KR forum apart from Scammer deliveries full of ricks in instead of Kaws figures and mamimal’s mystery black sacks of crap for $100.

Invader • 3D Little Big Space • Sculpture, by Hubble Bubble on Jul 13, 2022 8:53:24 GMT 1, I see no problem with flipping art. It neither annoys me or makes me happy.
Those that want to will always do it. But I don't understand the holier than thou tirade of abuse that rains down on someone who buys a piece and chooses to sell it on. Especially as it seems that the biggest laugh is usually from those who purportedly didn't want the piece in the first place (I make little reference to this thread, it's an observation in general). If you didn't want the piece and you don't like it then what's your problem?
Flipping is all part of the game... some art increases in value. Those that flip try to realise that value early. Those that don't will realise it at some point in the future. Or perhaps they won't... perhaps they'll keep it on their wall. Or maybe they'll keep it in a flat file (might be tricky with this piece, I grant you). Either way I simply don't understand the nastiness and vitriol towards people buying and selling early. This is very much the 'kitchen' we live in. If you can't stand the heat then you shouldn't be here.
Good luck to the seller. Hopefully they will get rid of something they no longer want, recoup their investment and someone who did want one will pick it up at a reasonable price.

HB True true, it is what it is and it's just a sign of the times, people trying to make a quick buck. You can't stop it, and why would you want too. Seriously, the Artists actually want their art flipped, they certainly don't want 10O% of any release never to be resold 😳 that would be terrible for them. Yeah, some Artists pretend they are against flippers, but I don't believe that for a second. How much of most releases gets presold to galleries, for them to flip on at a health profit to artificially increase values and inflate the market 😉

HB I have no problem with people flipping either. As you say it’s part of the game and is likely what drives the prices in either direction. I do feel that that it’s bad form to do it on an art forum though where people have said that they really wanted it and missed out then to have your nose rubbed in it by someone listing one for sale on here at double the price. Stick it on eBay I feel would be better form. Let’s face it it’ll get a link on here anyway.

Invader • 3D Little Big Space • Sculpture, by Inknart on Jul 14, 2022 17:19:00 GMT 1, They just sent an email out showing that they're in fact numbered
We take authentication seriously In addition to the serial number present on the sculpture, each packaging will feature a hologram sticker with another serial number. Both product and hologram serial numbers will be matched, as a way for Musart to authenticate your original art piece from the artist Invader.
The 5,000 pieces have been numbered Here is a sneak peek of what the laser-engraved serial number will look like on the 3D Little Big Space inner foot. Each piece will be numbered from 0001 to 5000/5000.

Both product and hologram serial numbers will be matched, as a way for Musart to authenticate your original art piece from the artist Invader. Shep releases prints e very week so owning an obey isnt hard. Good ones sure. But many settle for less. If this was the only invader toy in 10 years then it would rise no doubt. If they release nicer colourways then people wont care this was first.

Its like they give permission to people to make fakes. If someone wants to sell 1000 new "Invader" prints how does anyone know if they are real or not? Banksy has sprouted 3-4 fake Banksy artists. Some fools bought $1 million in fake Banksy NFTs. It's truly funny and makes me wonder why I don't sell some Banksy NFTs or Antsy or Inader

Will put that little 👾 every time I post now.

Invader • 3D Little Big Space • Sculpture, by yojoe007 on Jul 15, 2022 4:29:26 GMT 1, So this was sent out via email? I did not get this, did anyone else not get the email? Check spam folder, that's where mine was.
Seconding (and thirding) other people's sentiments- the individual numbering was something, let's face it, that they didn't need to do. The edition was already sold out, with a vague description of numbering. I think they've gone above and beyond, and I really enjoyed reading that email. Has definitely elevated the release in my eyes.

The email made the whole process even more exciting and treasured more. Wonder when they are shipping them exactly.
