It's a pretty big number, but it depends who the buyers are. If the Vinyl Toy Collectors jump in, then they would take a big chunk of the 5k, and Flippers still might fancy their chances to sell these on in a few years? What are your predictions? I think in addition to “normal” collectors like us grabbing one or two, galleries are going to get as many as they can, to sell later on. I get that this particular work's lack of scarcity may not result in much appreciation in terms of re-sell value, but it also serves to bring folks into Invader's market who may not have otherwise become a fan. I think in the long run, the occasional, large, affordable release will pay dividends for Invader. It should increase the demand for, and the price of, other original and more limited works. I also understand the feeling that it's sorta like when your favorite underground band "sells out".

Good question 🤔 But think about also, yeah Damien Hirst is very well known, but many would never make that step into buying anything, they maybe wrongly think his work is out of reach? I never heard Kaws release an edition of 5000. If invader is trying to “grow a market” that doesn’t mean he needs to flood the market… Kaws’ limited edition releases for vinyl are 1000 ish. His open editions are 5-10k minimum spread out over years of releasing. |

I don't think, as many suggest, the edition size alone is the problem. There are many big editions (like some invasion maps) and nobody minds. It is the e d i t i o n s i z e PLUS p r i z e that I mind.
It feels bad because a 500 Euro price tag for a 5000 edition seems way too high - and that goes with the spirit of Musart, because they are about the commercialization of art and artists. ... and THIS is what Invader has bought into.

Kaws' fan base is much larger than Invader and moves from fashion to art and he produces large editions because that's the demand for his art; his art is made at 70% of toys. Kaws is to art toys as Louis vuitton is to bags and they are both producers of luxury goods .. The Invader and Musart sculpture seems to me just a cash grab attempt, otherwise with such a large edition, they would sell these for 200 euro not 500.. kaws sell is toys for $280 on release.. |

It's a beautiful little thing no doubt and I can't fault Invader for cashing in but it's not for me. Red flags all over this - I would be just as happy with a knock off (of which there will be many). 2 per person tells me this isn't exactly meant for all the fans out there, very strange... good luck either way to those vested in this - I'm sure it'll look great amongst all the never read art books on a shelf  (biiiiiiiitch! lol!)
