Jose Parla - Bring it, by dkla on Apr 23, 2008 16:08:40 GMT 1, For those who own Jose Parla artworks, please get your pics up here. I'm interested in learning more, too. Where, when did you acquire? What are prices like these days? I'm really digging his stuff - I like the abstract nature of it - looks like decades of layered graffiti. I really don't know much about purchasing his artwork though. Your knowledge/advice appreciated.

I bought it for cheap when you can pick and choose which one you wanted and even get a discount if you tried. Not to sure what this size would fetch now though.
This is my watercolour, it's at the framers right now. Personally it's one of the best I've seen.

Jose Parla - Bring it, by dkla on Apr 23, 2008 17:22:21 GMT 1, Your taste/collection is impeccable. Gotta respect you for that, and for having the eye to spot these artists early when their work is available and affordable. I'm really liking Parla's stuff and wishing I was aware of him a while ago. I love the blend of street/graffiti/abstract - it's really working for me.

Jose Parla - Bring it, by rkitek on Apr 23, 2008 20:41:23 GMT 1, Love both those Parlas Frankie. While I hope to get one on wood or canvas one of these days, my watercolor (which I quite like) will have to hold me over until then. I picked this up from the Futura and Parla show at Elms Lesters in June 2007.
Now I'm wishing I'd gotten this one as well.

Looks great and I think the frames on these are perfect. Elms Lester/John Jones really made the perfect choice.

My guess is elms/JJ choese them, Jose liked them soo much that he insisted the Italians copy it. Americans tend to just stick things on the walls with 4 drawing pins ;D

Jose Parla - Bring it, by ricosg11 on Apr 28, 2008 22:27:25 GMT 1, i would doubt highly that they ALL feature a tag. Its cool but I dont think it would affect value at all. As I said above though, tag or not, that is one of the better ones.

Jose Parla - Bring it, by not1scar on May 2, 2008 4:46:18 GMT 1, Re echoed Sound of Brooklyn
Megalopolis
Hooked up with Jose before his Miami Basel show and commissioned Megalopolis. I'd been blown away by these word landscapes and the stories behind them. We became friends both being in Brooklyn and much in common. Before he was done with Mega I "sold the farm" to commission Re echoed. He'd wanted to go somewhat bigger and I was -- bro take your time, whenever your ready. I'd seen more developing decay and the vertical tails starting that were evident on some of the Elms pieces. It was beyond worth the wait. I can't express enough the joy I get from them daily. Jose is as straight up as they come. Such a genuine personality with heart and vision. It's no wonder he's taking off with such a strong history/body of work and evolving with new mediums.

Do you mind me asking, what sort of price we talking for a Parla commission?!? Second thought, maybe you shouldn't shout it out. Pm me instead
