Andreas Dolk • Andreas Hamran Færø , by Deleted on Mar 28, 2016 15:55:29 GMT 1, So... seems like one of my favorite artists has completely switched gears... REALLY switched gears, like from 6th to reverse or the other way around.
Check this out
dolk.no/
I'm not sure if anybody has a pulse on his new perspective, but just really wondering how and why this change happened at once. Anybody have info ? This all seems to make his last "Chief 3X" print make a lot more sense. Seems as if it marked his final piece of stencil art and the transition from Stencil to SomethingElse.
Thoughts ? Info ?

Andreas Dolk • Andreas Hamran Færø , by 11 on Mar 28, 2016 16:09:40 GMT 1, This 'Buffiti' period started 12-18 months ago now. If you search the boards you'll find quite a bit of commentary on it.
He's been quiet for a while so I was half expecting him to have come through that and exploring something else, or evolving it. Is there anything recent ?

if he - is ... and this certainly ticks one box - not doing what people expect then that is fine by me.
why follow ? there is no future in following the past.
not even if you are a punk.
punk ethos is not the same - of course.

Yes it seems Dolk is starting over and choosing a new path for his works. Looking back I think this was his intro to telling that his old work was done and carrying out the old style. I think the buffing on the latest works is a final closing of the old Dolk. Erasing his facebook pics and the makeover of website also telling something is going down. Looking forward to see what he will come up with.

The grey buffing could be a refernce to no freedom of speech in Sweden or wherever Dolk dwells?

So basically he abandoned what has been working this whole time for a new style that no one likes? Smart team he has there. Once we got a glimpse of his new style(after his latest patch rubbish with chief x3), I knew it was time to think really hard about the future of his work. I truly thought he was joking at the time. Other then choosing better images, what direction could his old style go moving fwd? But whatever he is doing now just seems like he is lost or confused in terms of the future. Time will tell I guess but I'd be pretty annoyed and possible scared If people purchased his work for investment purposes in the past right now. Crap shoot for the future imo.

Dolks standing was falling anyway, his ideas were running thin and unlike most artists here he's shown a willingness to experiment - who knows me where it will lead but I'd put money on it making him happier and leading to better work in the long run.

Dolk posted this today on his Instagram and i think that is the make of that sculpture and he is dating it 2013 ? Might not have been when the show was though !

Andreas Dolk • Andreas Hamran Færø , by chichi carter on Mar 30, 2016 13:22:20 GMT 1, A while back I remember Faile did a big show and totally went in a new direction. They then went back to their normal pieces. Be interesting to see Dolk's new direction. That was 'Fragments Of Faile' at Lazarides in 2011. People were most definitely dumbfounded with that one. Looking back on it now it wasn't that far fetched though. The pieces were somewhat abstract portraits of women. They had dropped the silkscreening on the backgrounds making the pieces more 'airy' and the comic book element was a lot more subdued. But as you said they came back to their usual style pretty quickly.

Looks like the wildlife is taking its revenge! during the gold rush buffalos almost disappeared, now they are claiming what's theirs kicking the shit out of the slot machines..
I also see a link between the two pieces and the native americans, like forget about the indian casinos and hollywood and let your inner souls (buffalos and wolves) out again

Looking back I think this was his intro to telling that his old work was done and carrying out the old style. I see this as a blatant diss of Martin Whatson's copied, idea-less and commercially relentless faux-graffiti childlike scribblings, and perhaps further representing the death of street art as a result.
Nice one Dolk.
