Secret Santa 2022 chat, by Street Arted 2020 on Nov 2, 2022 0:52:44 GMT 1, I shall shamelessly plagiarise the thread from Coach.
Yes, it’s going to be a list again. If you don’t like lists, tough. Happy Christmas.
How it works:
a) Decide if you are in and have something to send someone (do not simply jump on board without giving this proper thought!)
b) Quote the post before you and add your name and number at the end of the list - then double check that you haven’t cocked up the list.
c) You PM your name/address to the person ABOVE you in the list so that they can send to you your Secret Santa gift (I get the most PM's about this - it's the person ABOVE you);
d) The next person to post after you, is who you send your package to (with you paying for postage).
e) And so it continues....
Last person to post on the closing date sends to me (being 1st poster)
A few rules and bit of clarity:
a) Santa's Sack opens now and will close 8pm on Friday 2 December UK time (allows for the packages to arrive before Xmas - particularly international ones)
b) There's no minimum/maximum value as to what you send (it's whatever you can afford, has been sitting in your portfolio/shelf, how generous your feeling etc). But it's good to put some thought in to it.
c) This is open to forumites anywhere in the world
d) Don't be a dick by not sending your Secret Santa gift to your recipient (in the past we have had a small handful who didn't get anything; let's try to get a full house again ;-) )
e) keep this thread for chat, questions, suggestions etc.. I will start another thread for the list. No chatting on the list thread. People find this bit difficult! Chat on the chat thread.
Once again, and I can't stress this enough, please think before you add your name to the list - and only do so if you will without doubt (without any doubt whatsoever!!) send something. It is very unfair for anyone to send a gift but not receive something.
Only enter if you feel content to send your address to another forum member. You do so entirely at your own risk.
Also, whilst there is no minimum or maximum value/price please do think "would I be happy to receive this myself?" In the past we have had a few people receive a few stickers. That's not really in the spirit of our secret Santa, unless it genuinely is all you can afford.

I feel that The fact we are a global community just adds more fun, inclusivity and a varied opportunity to enjoy gifts that may not be readily available to each of us.
Telmooh, in regards to when to send, the sooner the better if international shipping is needed, if you get a local secret Santa recipient then less of a drama (unless postal strikes will cause delays).

Everybody is on the take, flippers, scams, disrespect...its fucking ugly. There was a time on here anyone could discuss art whether it be on a basic or intellectual level. Members used to share news of drops etc. Theres very little of that now. You put your head above the parapit and theres always a troll or scam artist waiting. It really sucks. |

Objectively, I feel you are and have been letting it sully your Christmas experience (to a degree) ever since. You did a good thing doing your part and that is the only part you can control. Letting the shirker impact your experience this long isn't healthy. The planet continues to spin and good deeds, while they don't go unpunished, have there way of working back to us. The holiday season starts now for you. Good thoughts only. |
