I'm guessing that the store received a lot people before this time who were actually shoplifting items and called in extra heavys.. The staff were frantically removing items from the shop front and removing all of the promotional display in the front window. The store was fully closed from 4.45pm and it didnโt reopen. Being on a Sฬถaฬถtฬถuฬถrฬถdฬถaฬถyฬถ Friday this must have cost them an entire days trade. Quite funny if you ask me. Don't know if there are any legal consequences for directing a flash mob of shoplifters towards a store and then costing them an entire days trade on a Friday/ Saturday in the run up to Christmas, this could get interesting.

Love it. Although what on earth is an "urban graffiti licence"?
Presumably, the contract with Brandalised was reviewed and negotiated by a lawyer or group of lawyers (in-house and/or external) acting for GUESS.
But if a modicum of due diligence had been completed, regarding the use on its clothing range of Banksy images nicked from the internet, GUESS would have realised that entering into a licencing agreement with John Doe from Huddersfield would have had equal legal validity.
And it would likely have cost GUESS about 99% less than what the company will have handed over to Brandalised for the same privilege.
After a year Banksy itโs more active then I thought. Trange to see him react to something that sell things using him image/ name without authorisation, this happens every days
While this type of theft may happen every day, it rarely does so involving such a high-profile protagonist. GUESS is a multinational retailer, apparently with around 1,600 shops globally.
Under these circumstances, a jocular public call-out by Banksy seems a legitimate and not-inappropriate response.
I'm guessing that guess just probably paid well over ยฃ1M to 'Brandalised' for a license they donโt even own.. Who's going to inform Guess that they have just been scammed?
Imagine being part of the team of employees and decision-makers at GUESS who were directly involved in this project. And what their respective weekends are now looking like.

Anyone here ever shopped at Guess? Their clothes always look incredibly dull to me ๐ฅฑ looks like C&A clothes with Gucci price tags. It looks like they are aiming to appeal to people driving a Lambo, but the style looks more like something from a 1970's knitwear catalogue.
