Completely agree that Qatar has major problems, but just pointing moral fingers at them will not make the country improve.
I’m hoping that by hosting the World Cup with 31 other nationalities, Qatar might realise they should improve and become more aligned to the rest of the world, so some good might eventually come out of it (even if it is a little bit).

Edit, while im started, i may as well carry on (and caveat this with i do really like his pieces and am looking to add one, would have been this one, but not now sadly. So wanting a piece is a tad hypocritical here. ). Kaws basically makes a chunk of his money selling these vinyl pieces, Which are a composition of fossil fuels, and also will break down and add to the ever growing micro plastic issue we have. It just makes the concept a little contradictory when you break it down. (If by some chance they turn out to be biodegradable ill eat my words!)

I would like to think that was the case also. But it was the reality of the situation that led me to post what i did. Well, sadly in this case, the finger is being pointed at people who have just got involved not in change but in acceptance. Which is what WC in Qatar is all about for Qatar, being seen as "accepted" by the global community regardless of their actions. We just sink deeper and deeper as we ignore and appease there actions. |

We talk about oil as though it’s their problem, not the fact that we’ve not only consumed it, but we’ve reaped the benefits of decades of consuming the worlds natural resources. Now we want to tell everyone else it’s bad and shouldn’t be doing it.
I believe working together is the best way to help both others AND ourselves. Nobody changes on their own.

Correct, we did spent years ruining the planet by using fossil fuels, but we know better now, and some are aiming to make changes, Qatar is not one of them, they will fight for the right to poison us all as long as they can. Times have changed, your taking past norms and placing them into a modern setting that is much better informed of the dangers. You could say thats "fair", but it really isnt the right thing to do at this point.
LGBT issues are bering discussed globally maybe, but nothjing is going to change in Qatar, as they are actively stopping the debate and as i said, turning people away in rainbow clothing. Even our brave players have ditched their armbands in fear of a yellow card!!! While the Iranian team risk god knows what, to have the actual balls to stand up. So thats a bit of a mixed bag. It is being discussed, but not where it matters, more in countries where we are all pretty much accepting already. So its a bit of an echo chambered conversation.
