Banksy • frAGILE • Legacy of War Foundation , by kashi on Dec 20, 2022 20:25:27 GMT 1, Please tell the tells .. show me what you are seeing. Thank you. Okay. Lots of writing required, but I'll play the professor. It's a good contrast to my more natural, real-life role as the blundering eternal student awwwww met Man! That is a lot of writing. Will it be enough just to say thank you, thank you? You showed me things that I would not have thought of for myself, despite being a printer in all sorts of mediums including screens. If I was to ask another question, it would be "what does it all mean?" I don't see the/any connection between this image and the hard, hard times in Ukraine where people are being bombed out of their homes and losing their lives defending their families & homeland (or losing their lives for their leader's filthy power lust). I don't see any message in the difference between 'fragile' & 'agile'. The rat is a pet 'fancy' rat, what am I supposed to think when I look at this? Banksy's thoughts have usually been pretty clear when you look at the artwork. Does it 'work' for any of the you who have read this far?
BUT .. I do understand I think why most people are so excited. They think its money in the bank for later when its worth £50000 not £5000. That sort of 'art interest' leaves me stone cold.

Ah come on now kashi , be honest- You and I both know that if Cartrain released this print, then there wouldn't be 50 buyers at $50, much less 50 buyers at $5,000.
It's only desirable because its by Banksy. We're it not by Banksy, this image would not be attractive enough to make anyone's walls.
God, I hope I win it I will sell it before the ink dries on the COA, and purchase something attractive from one if my favorite artists that I otherwise wouldn't allow myself to afford.
(My appologies to Cartrain. I intend no insult.)

That can be said for a lot of things.
But it was done by banksy. The work and image means more for that reason too.

Banksy • frAGILE • Legacy of War Foundation , by vvk on Dec 20, 2022 23:11:39 GMT 1, When was the last time released a Sell piece on card board? I mean yeah we have all seen old Card board political signs and stencil gifts given to his friends that were on cardboard, but as a medium cardboard is probably the worse substrate to use next to that newsprint the used for the GDP giveaway posters . its shelf life is def not "archival" quality and exposed to sun it very quickly fades. also surprised that these will be shipped framed. I mean geez dont those guys from POW have lots of catch up work to do with GDP ship outs still? looking forward to seeing pics when these ship. especially the difference in tears (from the tape) and rips both from lab rat and edges of the piece

I mean geez dont those guys from POW have lots of catch up work to do with GDP ship outs still? I'm not sure where the comment about cardboard is coming from. Cardboard has been used for over 100 years by many of the biggest names in art history.
For example:
Henri Matisse (1906) www.sfmoma.org/artwork/69.67/
Pablo Picasso (1912) frenchsculpture.org/index.php/Detail/objects/26270
Joan Miro (1935) www.moma.org/collection/works/33621
More recently, Robert Rauschenberg did a whole series named "The Cardboards" in the early 1970s:
www.rauschenbergfoundation.org/art/galleries/series/cardboard-1971-72#
I wouldn't be too concerned about this new Banksy piece. The decision to sell the work framed may actually play into this. It allows the artist to control the framing materials which could help extend the longevity of the work.
