Shrigley extract the juice from everything , by Sam Am on Jan 18, 2023 20:07:35 GMT 1, Absolutely shit show at London art fair. Ticketed system created by the organisers… fantastic, arrive at the stand to be told it’s already in tier 2 after waiting since stupid o’clock and getting a ticket with a lower number than 20. Thank god the wife likes it.

Shrigley extract the juice from everything , by Poster Bob on Jan 18, 2023 23:16:48 GMT 1, There is always a private view before the fair opens where both gallerists and VIPs buy works before release. Anyone looking to purchase a Shrigley should be aware of this, but it seems that this was your first time queuing for one. Just keep in mind that it will always be like this.

If someone bought it for less a few minutes before I did, I'd just feel like an idiot. He has tons of print releases and the prices for the prints are way too high in comparison with his originals. Just buy an original shrigley.

Asking for a friend. Maybe he/publisher choose stronger images for prints. There’s the collectibility of his prints all being same size (with few exceptions) and looking fab together… It’s easier to estimate the value of Shrigley prints as you can guage demand, see what they are changing hands for. Collectors are prepared to invest in them knowing what their value is.
The originals are very subjective, you might buy an original of a Shrigley turd for £5k which you think is a good price for an original but no one wants it because it’s a picture of a turd. And so it’s secondary value is zero.
So as an investment, collectors are more nervous of investing in originals if they’re doing it as a value store. If you love the image though, knock yourself out.
Troll disclaimer:, the above is all in relation to market forces and perceived value, nothing to do with artistic merit
