Opinions on Joseph Klibanksy?, by frax on May 12, 2023 22:09:27 GMT 1, Was wondering what you think of the Dutch artist Joseph Klibanksy? He's obviously rather contemporary than urban artist but some of you might know him as well...
Been following him for nearly ten years now and generally like the humor in his art but have the feeling that he is recently busier with jet-setting and influencing on IG than working and developing as an artist.
In the past, his works were regularly sold via auction houses but haven't seen this happen any more recently. He is represented by Maddox and other galeries though but there is not much happening on the secondary market.
Happy to hear your opinions.
For full disclosure, I own two prints of him.

Joseph Klibansky, or "The emperor of proletarian art" as he is called in The Netherlands.

But thanks for sharing!

His art speaks to a lot of people over here, and he is making lots of money. His gallery is funnily enough actually in a village very near where I live. But real art connoisseurs don't take him seriously and that annoys him quite a bit.

But real art connoisseurs don't take him seriously and that annoys him quite a bit. As said before, I also liked it at a first sight. But I've always been wondering who actually buys his expensive pieces, especially his bronze sculptures, whose edition sizes are not really small and also always seem to be available. But okay, good for him...
The same with his print editions. Have never seen any serious sellouts. Many editions are available for years (probably also because of his prices). But I've never understood why he is not stimulating demand for his art by issuing smaller editions!?
Anyways, thanks a lot for your insights!

Opinions on Joseph Klibanksy?, by its all about me on May 13, 2023 11:27:19 GMT 1, I think he has done a couple of excellent pieces. His buddha astronaut I particularly like. But, yeah, he does seem to try a bit too hard to be in with the in crowd and present himself as a trendy social influencer. I used to follow him on Instagram but got fed up with it. Not a bad artist but I feel he could be so much better than he actually is. Perhaps he'll improve with age.

Opinions on Joseph Klibanksy?, by jvp2022 on May 13, 2023 23:33:30 GMT 1, I own one of the very old city pieces. Itโs nice but in the years after I got it (the last 8 years or so?) as you say it is aฤบ about instagram and his show off style is really the opposite of what I like wouldnโt buy it again but individually it is a pleasant piece though overpriced probably.
