What's that patriot rat on? What I mean is, is that building removable?

I don’t get the reference to the Sun paper? Seems a good stencil, but just don’t think it makes much sense to put this up with very little context when you have a big Exhibition focusing on your stencils. I’d imagine he would be a little more elaborate than this. But.. I’ve been wrong before.

I agree. It looks like it can be a Banksy, but it's a bit too complicated and I get suspicious when I don't understand the piece.

The sun newspaper is the trap...

But how does that relate to the king ?

Oh Christ, this is like asking me to explain a chapter in a Harry Potter novel, this shit is all made up.

The gist of it is, I think, the Orange Order are the Protestants, and they are totes hard-on for a united Britain ruled by a monarch. 

The rat with its little Union flag hat suggests it's an all-in flag-waving mentalist. The orange sash on the rat suggests it's a Protestant rat. SO, it's beating the drum for the monarchy (the king). Ultimately that drum, as we all know, is hollow though, and in this case the drum has burst.

The trap has been baited with a copy of The Sun newspaper, which as we all know, is the rage-inducing medication of choice for flag-wavers and empty vessels everywhere.

The rat, believing itself to be a good patriot, wants to eat up everything that The Sun is saying (clickbait in physical form, if you will) - nom-nom-nom-nom - the rat loves it. But ultimately - SNAP! - the rat is caught in the trap of blind patriotism. Consequences. Maybe in the form of discomfort, maybe even in actual physical pain. Maybe to an individual, perhaps to a community, maybe to a country.

Something, something, something, you can't build a united society based on sectarianism, division, or hate, or without critical thinking when it comes to journalism and reporting. Something like that. 

Maybe. I don't know.

EDIT: Having read back my post, I can now see that some of it may, in parts, come across as slightly judgemental, and that is not my intention AT ALL.

Sometimes it's different from what you think... but in the end the abstract concept represented doesn't change.

The interpretation is varied.
The reality is even more varied. Sometimes drastic.

Banksy is Banksy.
Nothing else matters.

I think you might be right. But if it turns out to be by JPS or someone else, I shall distance myself from it.

But it's either good or not, being a banksy doesn't make it better than eyesaw, Jps etc

I like the execution, whoever it's by, just wasn't sure of the relevance of The Sun.

Starting to think that if this rat *is* by Banksy, he's overcomplicated it and made it too difficult for folk. Too many elements. And I'm not being flippant when I say this.

It's fine. As a jokey image that pokes fun at the monarchy, patriotism and non-critical thinking with regards to journalism (if we can refer to The Sun as that), - it's fine.

It's sweet, charming, it's fine. It's got a lot of little details, quite a bit of work went into it. I like its little hat.

I give it 4 thumbs up.

If it was a Banksy (I think it is)... at least I see this:
a rocker mouse that winks... and hits a drum that says "a good savings" "the King".
The trap of the newspaper is easily understood by me.
