Banksy Show • Cut & Run • Glasgow , by drip on Aug 20, 2023 12:21:51 GMT 1, Two things that make me think this is genuine, rather than a prank, are;
a) There was no actual prize item just slipped into the issue, instead you have to contact Pest Control, which I imagine is because the prize is something hella totes cool, and so they can have the winner's details and/or nudes.
b) You'd have to be of pretty poor conscience as a prankster, to use Big Issue sellers, human beings, consenting or not, that doesn't matter, as props in your stunt. I mean, Big Issue sellers often have rough days as it is, and now they have to deal with forum members?
c) It's a Glasgow-only kinda thing. That's an unrequired detail, and if you were hoaxing, you'd have folk buying up Big Issues the length and breadth of the country, no?

Can see your point regarding 'A'
I think you can apply the counter argument to point 'B' would Banksy do something similar to Big Issue sellers.
C, I would guess quite a few on here have already bought a copy online 'just in case'

There's a good chance that non-Banksy aware individuals, innocents we'll call them, could just look at that and think scam, nonsense, etc.
The Big Issue has loads of ads, and that slip could very easily get lost in the background.
As a few have said, this could end up as a very small edition. Of course, if the slips all have unique IDs that correspond with the "gifts/badges", he could just keep putting these slips out there until all are claimed. Or bang the rest on eBay.

I purchased a sports watch once from the back of a newspaper. One of those watches with both hands and a digital element. Anyway, looked really cool, I thought. So I sent my cheque off. When it arrived, I discovered the hands were painted on.
I've always been suspicious after that.

Banksy Show • Cut & Run • Glasgow , by drip on Aug 20, 2023 12:46:30 GMT 1, Cant see this being genuine myself. Its to hap hazard from someone who plots every move they make. It doesn't help the Big Issue magazine either. If the Big Issue needed his help im sure he would have done a poster or alike I know they do the Christmas wrapping paper thing, and I know posters cost extra money, but I've always thought it would be cool if the Big Issue occasionally, routinely, included exclusive posters from contributing artists.

Banksy Show • Cut & Run • Glasgow , by reg on Aug 20, 2023 12:53:55 GMT 1, Big Issue did a thorough review of the exhibition at the preview and Banksy has supported them on occasion. So any prankster has either done their homework and managed to infiltrate the distribution of the paper.... Or it's real. Fact that the only two we've seen including on social media actually went to the exhibition and bought a copy nearby leads me to think it's above board.

Banksy Show • Cut & Run • Glasgow , by sucette on Aug 20, 2023 13:57:51 GMT 1, Hi guys!
Happy to finally join the board after lurking for a mloooong time.
I won't be able to fly to Glasgow on the 28th, and have a ticket for the 9.15pm time slot.
I have to admit that I'm a bit fu*k**g sad as it will be a busy day on the show I imagine with potential surprises.
I'm giving it for free in exchange of a tot bag and shipping to France.
Love u all guys

Banksy Show • Cut & Run • Glasgow , by lukas01 on Aug 20, 2023 14:34:36 GMT 1, I think there won't be any surprises in the hours before the exhibition closes.
Some say Banksy reads in here? Well, I think he understood then, that many vultures will be on his head that night, right in the immediate closing.
I like Banksy's art. I was very impressed by Banksy's story linked to Reading prison. The fact that an elderly person told him about that place and how much suffering there was behind those walls. With Cut&Run I think he did the last touch to fill that prison.
There are many good people on this forum. But also many vultures. It's definitely not a place where many people really love Banksy's art and appreciate his message.
If you ever read my message, I would like you to know, that talking to people with white hair and long beards is not that difficult.
All is well. Especially if they guide us in our lives.

That's an unrequired detail, and if you were hoaxing, you'd have folk buying up Big Issues the length and breadth of the country, no? I’m kinda with you in this one. They call it gut instinct, which is based on lots of things but often has grounding on experience and knowledge. This just feels right this time. Happy to be wrong, but it just seems everything adds up to be a genuine Banksy move. Also, in agreement that if this is a hoax, this is a pretty shitty one, morally.

Banksy Show • Cut & Run • Glasgow , by zoomrider on Aug 20, 2023 16:07:25 GMT 1, Weird to have the edition number and size on that slip of paper. What do you think could be the reason for this? My first thought too as why commit to all 300 unnecessarily (although who knows how many may be included in a Big Issue)? However from a logic perspective I guess it might help validate the authenticity of any claim e.g. they have the code, the correct number of the edition and (possibly) the sellers name.
This feels like a Banksy move but still a little skeptical. I guess I just wish I had one! 😄

If legit, I'm really struggling to see how it can be justified in regards to the Big Issue and their individual vendors. My gut instinct is that unless individual vendors are rewarded handsomely, which I'm not sure I can see the organisation being allowed to happen, the situation could potentially be quite damaging to some of the individuals concerned.

Banksy Show • Cut & Run • Glasgow , by minibear on Aug 20, 2023 17:16:20 GMT 1, It’s only morally questionable if you assume there’s not planning around this. The writing style of the note, the unique reference and identifiers for PC, the belief Mr B wouldn’t use the Big Issue image without permission. It’s too Banksy not to be Banksy imo. And the fact there are people actively looking in Glasgow since the UAA post but with no luck holds weight that it’s been staged to a degree. If it is staged then I’m sure Banksy has paid off the vendors to have the weekend off. And likely paid them well. Big Issue sells out the edition online. Vendors get a weekend off and fully paid.
Imagine, any members who may have been spoken to by a vendor this past week and ignored them. They will be kicking themselves I’m sure. Definitely feeling like Banksy has a certain disdain for what this forum can be and this could be a “well you should’ve been nicer” type of affair. Just my thoughts.
It’s only morally questionable if you assume there’s not planning around this.

Banksy Show • Cut & Run • Glasgow , by Daylight Robber on Aug 20, 2023 17:23:51 GMT 1, The holier than thou virtue signalling turnips are out in force today. It’s fantastically exciting and no doubt will massively increase the revenue of the vendors. Nothing to do with virtue signalling. Just a genuine concern that down on their luck individuals aren't being exploited (for want of a better word) so that others can "win" prizes of a value which could turn lives around.
If you've won something, great. Well done you. And well done the poor sods on the street for having bumper sales.
Let's just hope no one already on the edge feels like they've missed a chance which was right under their noses.

considering that today no one seems to have had success, I think it was a deliberate choice by mr.B to stop vendors. So I'm curious about the new strategy to catch good people for the prize
Hats down to the Master

I would expect that Banksy had permission from Big Issue to create awareness for the homeless and that vendors were actually part of the Banksy team.
Instagram video incoming

Will have to wait and see if the OP’s comment again to cement that though-train. Hoping they will but I’m guessing they won’t. Vendors would’ve been sorted out.
