Banksy Show • Cut & Run • Glasgow , by Pete the Post on Jun 21, 2023 14:30:03 GMT 1, But how does that relate to the king ? Oh Christ, this is like asking me to explain a chapter in a Harry Potter novel, this shit is all made up. The gist of it is, I think, the Orange Order are the Protestants, and they are totes hard-on for a united Britain ruled by a monarch. The rat with its little Union flag hat suggests it's an all-in flag-waving mentalist. The orange sash on the rat suggests it's a Protestant rat. SO, it's beating the drum for the monarchy (the king). Ultimately that drum, as we all know, is hollow though, and in this case the drum has burst. The trap has been baited with a copy of The Sun newspaper, which as we all know, is the rage-inducing medication of choice for flag-wavers and empty vessels everywhere. The rat, believing itself to be a good patriot, wants to eat up everything that The Sun is saying (clickbait in physical form, if you will) - nom-nom-nom-nom - the rat loves it. But ultimately - SNAP! - the rat is caught in the trap of blind patriotism. Consequences. Maybe in the form of discomfort, maybe even in actual physical pain. Maybe to an individual, perhaps to a community, maybe to a country. Something, something, something, you can't build a united society based on sectarianism, division, or hate, or without critical thinking when it comes to journalism and reporting. Something like that. Maybe. I don't know. EDIT: Having read back my post, I can now see that some of it may, in parts, come across as slightly judgemental, and that is not my intention AT ALL. Peace and love. x This a great breakdown i like the detail.
Pretty sure it cant be JPS, surely after all the grief they have given out it would be to embarrassing to keep copying Banksy.
I do wonder if there is too much going on at once for it to be real though. Going with a not really sure on this one.

Banksy Show • Cut & Run • Glasgow , by Lord Lucas Roham on Jun 21, 2023 14:46:28 GMT 1, I am guessing that if Banksy had to pick a side in the West of Scotland Old Firm rivalry, he'd be a Celtic man.
Can't see him aligning himself with The Rangers given their long history of being an establishment club whose support occasionally fly the Israeli flag at games.
Celtic on the other hand are very left-leaning and their ultra-fans openly support Palestine and other progressive causes.
For that reason this could easily be him.

Banksy Show • Cut & Run • Glasgow , by met on Jun 21, 2023 15:17:38 GMT 1, He just sent this. Definitely legit.
Although I try to avoid categorical references like "definitely" or "100%", there is no reasonable doubt in my mind that this work is by Banksy.
In betting terms, I would be confident enough to bet £500 that it's authentic, and to offer 100 to 1 odds.
Leaving aside the concept and highly-charged political theme, one just has to look at the level of detail, the calibre of stencils used, and the general execution.
Among other things, consider also the handstyle of the text, shading, and use of multi-tone colouring for the rat — the latter being consistent with the artist's technically-more-advanced style of recent years.

Banksy Show • Cut & Run • Glasgow , by Lroy on Jun 21, 2023 15:42:12 GMT 1, Looks legit to me. A mate is at the exhibition today. And rumours he was there last night. This reminds me of my visit to Dismaland. I was just admiring the snake-eating-Mickey sculpture, when this guy in an anorak and glasses (and nothing else - no, I'm just joking) came up and started talking to me. He asked me whether I liked the piece. I replied that, yes, I did. Then he started telling me how a secondary element of the piece was the shadow, the silhouette on the floor. That if you looked at it from the right angle, it looks like Mickey has his cock out and is playing with it. The guy kept on and on about this, insisting I take a picture of this silhouette, to wait until the other visitors were out of the way, and to take this picture. "Take it now! Take it now!" On and on about it he went, about the "artist's actual intentions". Eventually, I was like, alright Sister Wendy, give it a rest, Jesus. I'm just trying to look at some art, not understand the inner workings of the mind of the artist. Anyway, eventually I managed to get away from this guy, and he went and stood behind another couple, clearing eavesdropping on their conversation. Well he was odd - I thought to myself. Then, as I was leaving the gallery, one of the Dismal staff on the door said, "You've just met the artist." I was like, "Pardon?" He said, "That was the artist. You've just met the artist." I said, "Are you serious?" And they just nodded at me. And we both just stared at each other for an unsettling amount of time, until finally I said; "I hope not." Hi my friend, who was the artist so ? rom English ? Hirst ? this one was not attributed to Banksy I think

Banksy Show • Cut & Run • Glasgow , by JW on Jun 21, 2023 16:08:15 GMT 1, Good stencil, but a hard no for me.
Placement is lacking. Background is boring/uninteresting. Right near the exhibition where he talks about letting the background talk for itself. Topic seems a little too obvious and lacking humour. I don't feel it's his style to explicitly use the Sun as a reference, nor use very obvious lines/slogans like "God Save the King".
I've been wrong before though - ie the Valentine's Day girl with a slingshot.

If it's confirmed by Banksy, then I love it. ...and if it is confirmed that it is definitely NOT by Banksy, then you don't love it anymore?
