James Cauty π¬π§ The KLF β’ Artist & Musician , by Dr Plip on Sept 5, 2012 23:49:13 GMT 1, No.
I had images, but they died with my old PC. I think they were on sale at ArtRepublic though. Roman WG would probably have some images. They seem to have every Cauty going.
They just had lots of scribble around the perforated area, necklace, and a few other areas that the Royal Mail claimed was copyrighted.
I tried Google. It's just not doing it for me.

James Cauty π¬π§ The KLF β’ Artist & Musician , by bomber88 on Sept 6, 2012 11:39:42 GMT 1, A friend had a signed Union Jack Queens Head jigsaw (with a piece missing) which looks amazing when framed. This was one of the first things he produced for the Aquarium gallery so I imagine they are pretty rare to find though. Definitely worth a punt if you can find one.

A lot of them were released by the Aquarium/Cauty as "real" stamps. Gummed back, stamp size, etc. You could also buy them on first day covers. They're usually on eBay.
They released 2 books. Stamps Of Mass Distruction Volumes 1 & 2. Volume 1 can be picked up for under a tenner sometimes. While volume 1 was a more limited affair and can cost over Β£150. Volume 2 should come with a sheet of cauty stamps inside (2 versions, later editions had deleted stamps on the sheet). You'll find a lot of eBayers split the books and stamps to fleece, sorry, sell them seperately.
If you're buying any Pop editions, make sure they're properly stamped, and not "bootleg" or later editions that are still being churned out by people. They also released a box set of smaller prints that were unstamped. These all got split and are all over eBay. Some go for crazy money, but they're later editions and a bit w@nk really. imho

James Cauty π¬π§ The KLF β’ Artist & Musician , by spencerlee on Sept 6, 2012 15:37:29 GMT 1, Yeah, it's very confusing. The orginal, limited signed prints were released in normal and pop editions. Then everything was culled.
Then all of a sudden more editions came out that were from Cauty and labelled as rejects or something? There was a show where people got loads of these. I actually lost track after a while.
As for the special defaced box set. I think there were 10 released. It came with a note talking about the legal disputes and the prints were in a special clam-shell type thing. It was 3/400 quid I think and I don't seem to be able to find anything on google either? Very strange. I don't think I have EVER seen it on ebay, and I have a saved search that's been running for years.

They actually sold pages by themselves, which you could then put in a book yourself, so that could be what you are seeing...strange isn't it?

James Cauty π¬π§ The KLF β’ Artist & Musician , by Dr Plip on Sept 6, 2012 19:57:38 GMT 1, Every so often, the Aquarium would sell off any printers rejects or unreleased test prints. They are usually stamped with the Aquarium reject stamp and usually have the reason for rejection written on there. They had a clear out sale when they moved premises, and quite a few bits and bobs were shifted then.
And you're right about the Aquarium producing the defaced Queens, but the last time I saw one for sale, I'm sure it was ArtRepublic online. Or I imagined it.

James Cauty π¬π§ The KLF β’ Artist & Musician , by rockhopper on Sept 6, 2012 21:44:05 GMT 1, The original 1st (possibly 2nd & 3rd) class stamp of mass distruction was published by art republic. All other stamps were published by the aquarium. Any official rejects should be stamped aquarium reject and marked why rejected. Pop editions were unsigned, all large prints were signed and stamped. Early prints were stamped blacksmoke, later ones were stamped cnpd. Some of the large prints are very rare, having been culled before selling out. RH

Ah, I getcha. I didn't see them at ArtRepublic. It's very strange, I have done several searches to find any details on this box set but there is nothing on line at all. In fact I kept on being redirected back to this thread in a recursive loop.
