I feel like we overvalue the importance and appreciation of Invader on this forum simply because it's originally dedicated to street art, and in this niche Invader surely is iconic. But in the context of the general art world / art market I'm not so sure ... Would appreciate any data to refute this or back it up.
My kids and I frequently hunt for Invader pieces when traveling and I am always amazed by the fact that more times than not there are other people taking pictures with the app at the same time. I'm not sure there is another street artist aside from Banksy who has a larger mainstream following.

However:
1. The selection of your names is very subjective
2. Social media numbers are easily manipulated
3. This would suggest that Invader is, for example, comparable to Hirst, which is of course nonsense in every possible way
4. Many of the greatest names don't bother with social media
5. There are other ways to assess the artistic achievement of an artist and its recognition by both art institutions and the art market. They're all questionable also, but just to mention two: annual reports by artprice or the Kunstkompass ranking of the "best living artist"

I think there is an element of this. The 'bubble' probably more interested in whether or not the prints are embossed, the nature of the glazing, the role of Heni, etc, than anyone with a passing interest would be. On that basis i would expect the applications for these particular prints to be high, but not on a level with a Hirst release, for example, which would presumably have a much wider reach of interest from those not as obsessed with the art world as many here.
However in terms of what level he has reached (and i suspect no answer will give you satisfaction, but will play along). There are clear levels of 'progress'. Partnering with Heni themselves likely introduces him to a whole new tier of collectors, presumably the very reason he has done it. A 6 page spread in the New Yorker last year, a reference in pretty much every tourist guide to Paris, popular shows of recent years in Paris (x2), Brussels and LA. Most importantly however, an active community of some 415k people via the app regularly engaging with his work elevates it beyond the vast majority working on the streets. Okay, they will not all be active but i know from my own challenges of maintaining a position in the top 10k that many are.
Most of all however, its the recognisable nature of his work, the universal signature. I would challenge (its admittedly untested and non scientific) you to ask anyone who Invader was, and they may well not know, but if you showed them a mosiac, and they had visitied any major City, they would likely immediately recognise it, 'oh that guy'. And within an hour of hunting for them they would be attuned to immediately spot copycat versions too. Regardless of what metric you use/dismiss to determine someones success in art, surely that is the ultimate measure?

I no longer consider him one but Kaws started as a street artist. For active artist, it would definitely be led by Banksy and Invader, plus Shepard Fairey still dabbles in street art (though mainly commissioned work I think).
Every other street artist is one or more tiers below these 4 as fair as mainstream awareness.

I have 48 hours to confirm. I've been allocated (any of) the XL ones - I applied for every print in the series.
Really torn as to what to do now, as I love the edition overall (esp as saw them in Paris) however the XL images are the ones I like least of all.
And $6k plus VAT (v cheeky these were advertised without VAT) some pretty hefty P&P as well is a big chunk of $$, and in all reality I can't see them rising much, if at all in the secondary market.
Thoughts/Suggestions welcomed!

I suppose its just to rare for invader prints to come up, esp this size. He is absolutely one of my favourite street artists, so i'm really torn as to whether something is better than nothing, or that is just being ridiculous.
Part of this is because I turned down opportunity to get scream invader when it came out on release (I was there in person) as the image seemed v odd for me but since then it has hugely grown on me and I really regret not getting it now..!
