True dat. The glossiness makes the colours pop, makes them more vivid. Without the gloss they'd look like one of those cheap prints of the watercolours of the Malvern Hills that your nan does.

Very true.  I disliked them before but now I've watched the video I dislike them even more.

If I was tempted before this has killed it. An artistic process void of all emotion.

I saw the originals at Frieze London and they looked great. Not going for them as bought Empresses which I liked. Difficult decision and different times but was really impressed with originals

Great edition size! Less than 10% of empresses and 20% of cherry blossoms. Low supply, beautiful prints and blue chip artist. These will perform well in the long run!

I’m genuinely curious to see the numbers for Virtues 2 or Vices or whatever the next cherry blossom dibond series is called. Seems inevitable at this point.

Disagree. In the short term there’s no way to beat the system when they are printing on demand. He could get away selling 3500+ edition sizes per piece for red glitter during the asset bubble times. Ultimately what determines the long term fundamental value is how they look. There’s a reason why cherry blossoms still sells at 3x even with 1500+ edition sizes - they look great. Now we are in a totally different environment- money is no longer sloshing around as it was and interest rates are at 5%. Here we have a relatively low edition size to his other drops (paper screenprints can go up to 300-500) and a very relatable aesthetic to the mainstream - abstract gardens. Supply cut, beautiful nature, damien hirst, 300 edition size per piece, 120x93 size for $3,500 - it’s a no brainer investment. Time will tell but i’m expecting at least 2x. Damien has gone commercial for a reason - art is becoming more commercial and less exclusive. An investment banker walking past a gallery and seeing cherry blossoms or a garden that he is happy to hang on the wall of his new flat signed by a blue chip artist with a 300 edition size - he wont even blink twice to spend £5k on that. That’s 1.5 investment just like that. Oh and did we mention inflation is still at 5% annualised?

occured to me that I considered Condo edition size as too large at 150 each, 450 total.

Whilst UAA should never be considered the barometer on whether art is any good, the fact that there is only 5 pages for a Damien Hirst release (and wholly negative) should give anyone with half a brain cell a clue that these are not good investments.
