idris advertised TLP - Fruity Geezer for sale & through communication it got to the point where he was ready for me to make payment. He's since ignored me, only to find he's listed them on eBay!

Dealing with forum members...., by spirit on May 19, 2008 18:11:31 GMT 1, I've made a poll about about whether we should have a good trades/bad trades thread - please cast your vote.
(although I see Ross has jumped the gun a bit! :-) - pretty good template for the way forward though I reckon - particularly like his traffic light system!)

yup - afraid so - was listed on ebay even before you made the offer & i'm cool with you using my name - i aint got a problem with it.
For those interested - 3 TLP prints under cost on cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=320252738351&ssPageName=STRK:MESE:IT&ih=011 so ross you could still end up with a bargain.

Dealing with forum members...., by ramraiders on May 19, 2008 19:47:48 GMT 1, Different things work for different people I guess but as predominently a buyer I am willing to offer a 10% deposit on anything I say yes to, and if I change my mind there's a little bunce for the seller to cover their wasted time or if they lose other offers.
Perhaps name and shame should be optional? I'm currently in the early processes of buying off this Forum and have no problem at all being shamed if I mess someone around.
Alternatively sellers should realise that honest buyers are worth their weight in gold - and some sellers get what they deserve by trying to squeeze out every penny from every PM - when instead they could take a lower offer from a respected buyer and have a deal done in days.

Dealing with forum members...., by DYL4N on May 19, 2008 20:13:24 GMT 1, Im relatively new had 5 deals that I can remember, and everyone a pleasure:
They know who they are ;D
Two people have ignored me after agreeing a deal.
And shame on me I have pulled out of one deal cause i got cold feet with a bit of (non pow) Provenance, but was honest told the guy and suffered his wrath!!
Believe it or believe it not I have been let down by 2 galleries with the old 'oops sorry my business partner had already sold it before I sold it to you.' (You cant have it anymore but keep checking our site and you will see it back on there in a week for an extra 500/1000!!!

Dealing with forum members...., by stuey09 on May 19, 2008 20:31:40 GMT 1, Just a quick cautionary note. Some people don't like the fact that they have been trading banded about on the forum, so it might be polite to just check with the individual before you announce that he or she is dealing.

Dealing with forum members...., by paulypaul on May 19, 2008 20:33:20 GMT 1, Not aimed at anyone in particular (can't be arsed reading all that have gone before) but there is a simple answer - sell stuff elsewhere.
People are generally shit - get used to it...
And, erm, thank your lucky stars that your life is generally soooo good, that something like this boils your piss....

Dealing with forum members...., by Coach on May 19, 2008 23:00:52 GMT 1, I've sold to one member I've bought from loads of members. I've bought for a member. Every deal has been spot on, no problems at all. Stay positive. I still think the majority on here are sound as a pound.

Dealing with forum members...., by gerry on May 19, 2008 23:19:14 GMT 1, I've bought off scud80 (hope he doesn't mind me posting that, but he did start a thread selling stuff!) and he was a top bloke, great comms, all the usual positive ebay feedback things that there are to say really.
And must confess, have probably been one of those people who's pm'd for a price on something once or twice then not replied when the price has been sent back due to busyness or slipping my mind. To the couple of people i've done that to, sorry, and I shall be more polite in future!

Dealing with forum members...., by bennyhedgehog on May 20, 2008 4:36:41 GMT 1, The people here are generally an honest bunch... have bought 3 times from people here... once from MancMike which was an elegant and easy transaction, and another two times from other people with no worries...
I did have a trade set up for a DFace Lenticular in trade for my Colour Trolleys which fell apart, but I can totally understand why the DFace owner backed out... was a tad disappointing though (obviously!)... I missed out on a trip to Lahndahn Tahn.
I was part of a Secret Santa post-around at xmas and sent out about a dozen postcards, I didnt follow up and check each and every one (they were only postcards) but received about 10 (maybe 12) in return, so on the whole good imho.

Dealing with forum members...., by frank11 on May 20, 2008 8:28:54 GMT 1, I have purchased a few prints of members over the last couple of years, all of them have been very smooth and easy transactions. The one thing i would be keen on is to meet up face to face. I know logistically this can be a nightmare. However you often get to meet a like minded person for a beer or coffee, and you do not have that worry of what RoyalMail will do to your tube.
However Anthoz i do agree over the last few weeks there seem to be more people arseing about with no intention of buying

One of the best couple of hours I have spent without a Beer!
Last night I collected โmyโ Vandal Airways from โAnthozโ in Manchester (240 miles round trip - picked up the same day as agreed on the forum)
After the long drive up, he offered me a cup of tea and hours of education on prints & artists.
Who says the forum does not generate a good feeling โ I felt great driving home in the knowledge that I met another sound guy from the forum โ not to mention the fantastic Nick Walker print in my boot (and what a great deal too)!
Many thanks to the forum for the introduction and โAnthozโ for being one of the best blokes I have met from the โart worldโ
Hope to catch up with you at the Miss Bugs show โ Cheers, Rob For the record that is 2 trades (SRQR and BigMan) all good, 2 purchases (Cashman & Anthoz) all good and one sale (Jonnyx) all good.
