DFace Street Improvement Prints, by Heavyconsumer on May 28, 2008 0:45:50 GMT 1, there has been times where i have been abroad and would have paid money for a proper cup of tea and a kitkat. especially abroad. A friend still takes PG tips with him.
I have PG teabags shipped to me here in Brazil. Or at a push Tetley, but I complain if it's not PG! Still anything's better than the local crap.

I dunno Francis, I would say that Cli-che and Pop Tart are excellent quality. It was very surprising that the Street Improvement 3 print was so poor.

Perhaps, it's a bit strange that it was left almost pixellated though.

Is there a reason why people are talking these prints up? Probably. I don't have a set to sell so I am able to give an honest appraisal.
If I get the chance later then I'll take a picture of what I am talking about and let you decide for yourself.

DFace Street Improvement Prints, by Heavyconsumer on May 28, 2008 9:03:11 GMT 1, Print quality aside, imo there's no innovation and I don't find them engaging or enjoyable to look at in any way. Although they're fine as a graphic design project. I know D has a huge following and I respect him as an artist, but this whole series bores me stiff.

DFace Street Improvement Prints, by G-Man on May 28, 2008 9:13:32 GMT 1, I find it interesting that ppl on this forum seem to have the bit between their teeth to slag off D*face for this series
It is definately driving down prices of his work and therefore I believe ppl have this in mind whilst talking down these prints
D*Face is one of the good guys of street art and has been consistently producing great pieces over the last few years
Show some support eh??

I disagree... this is the weakest set of prints that D*Face has done by quite a way, aside from the shock of him releasing a set of a couple of year old images as his "new" prints (well, maybe that isn't so much of a shock) they are some of the weaker works he has done.
I think the people talking them down has less to do with prices than the fact they are staid

We have been drowning in a sea of remixed images and dragging up old tired work from years back which weren't particularly inspiring back then (meaning the SI serise), and we as fans are to show support? Wheres our support from him? Just f**kin lazy and the taste of money has not helped him!!!!

A rather strange perspective really, or perhaps a rather predictable one. This is a forum that I come to to learn about and express my views on art and a genre of it that comprises some of my prefered artists. I have no duty to be dishonest in my reaction to any piece or the artist who created it. I think this series by DFace is poor, boring, unadventurous and dull to behold.
The only reason you could have for begrudging my expression of that view is probably your own "investment interests." Well sorry, I'm not bothered what happens to D's print values on ebay. I've no idea whether the artist himself cares much either. I assure you I have no interest in buying anything DFace from what I've seen so far, because either I dislike it, or where that isn't the case, I can buy work I prefer for the same money or less.
I'm sure you disagree, but that's the beauty of art, it's subjective.

It IS supposed to look like that. Compare the detail of the old skool 1950s image to the modern D*Dog. Very different.

DFace Street Improvement Prints, by form01 on May 28, 2008 10:03:36 GMT 1, seriously they are a major WTF. They are posters rather than prints. something you would buy at a local shop for $5 laminated. put up next to your massive poster of Michael Jordan, arms out-stretched and along side your massive Jessica Alba poster. It's something I'd use blue tak to affix to the wall. not a fan at all. and 5 of them.. money making idea if i've ever seen one. If it had no name on it, it wasn't by dface, would you buy it?
I think you are missing the point the clue is in his name "d*face"
But I do agree this series is not his best work but there is some worst s**t out there with no substance that people don't show as much hatred towards than this.

I think you need to look up hatred in the dictionary! There's none on this thread. Far more unreasonable than expressing disliking a piece, is defending the work based on the name of the artist, rather than it's merit imo.

Again, perhaps it is. If that was the case then I'd have expected it to be onto the background itself rather than onto a white oval. I still find it extremely offputting every time I look at the print.
