Banksy Complete LA Edition Set of 6 , by spirit on Jul 8, 2008 21:46:55 GMT 1, ITo be honest I don't give a f**k how much these are worth but easily support Mustard in his assessment of value, in fact I think he is undervaluing them. What we have are two prints that have had a release of 100. A different Morons and a different Trolleys. How these can be lumped together with the normal unsigned is a mystery to me.
Completely agree with you.
(Declaration: I own LA Morons and LA Trolleys)

Banksy Complete LA Edition Set of 6 , by gbh on Jul 9, 2008 0:50:10 GMT 1, I didn't think GBH was talking about a thread from about 2 months ago, which I didn't delete and is open for anyone to read. It was reasonable to assume he was talking about a thread from a couple of days ago for a complete L.A. set for sale for 20k, which was not my thread
your assumption was totally reasonable and it was correct. I was actually talking about that thread from a couple of days ago, I didn't check before opening my mouth, I just automatically thought it was you reposting again (seems to be the norm of late). Apologies.
If I had some spare moula I'd make you an offer, I'd love the set. You'd reject it for sure but I'd offer anyway. 8+)
Best of luck with the sale, hope you get loads.
I can't seem to find that other post from a few days agao, anyone else track it down or was it deleted?

Banksy Complete LA Edition Set of 6 , by top on Jul 9, 2008 22:39:45 GMT 1, Laz never sold an unsigned la print set - they have a PP set for sale - On price, because its a set, look to pay 10-15% over the current print price on each.
Laz wouldnt take on a set like this to sell, simply because these are POW prints, and as such they do not sell them.
There wouldnt be much demand for these, and it would take a specific collector to buy these, even at auction.
No malice, just Laz.info

I don't think you're right about that Top - these are not POW prints - they were printed by Modern Multiples and sold by Laz in LA. I have Laz receipts for my two. Given that Laz sold them in the first place I see no reason why they would not take on a set to sell again. Also, as there are only 100 of each print in this set I think the statement that there wouldn't be much demand for them is hard to justify - they are some of the rarest Banksy's around and are therefore very collectable.
The fact is that there are very few of these sets in existence and it is very hard to put a value on them as there is little/no history of previous sales (of sets) to go on. So are they worth 7, 10, 15, 20k or more? - who knows? - they are worth whatever someone who really wants them is willing to pay. If I had a set I would be in no rush to sell and would hold out until the right buyer came along, or put them with a good auction house.

Banksy Complete LA Edition Set of 6 , by alsbabar on Jul 9, 2008 23:23:13 GMT 1, not sure I would agree with you either spirit - You may have a receipt from Laz, but provenance is from POW and as such are regarded as POW releases.
As for the demand for them, if your statement is correct, then why hasnt the set thats been available via Urbanangel sold? I would agree with you on what they are worth, that is true with all art, and that is what someone is prepared to pay for it.
As for collectable's, yes individually they are, but as a full set, that is a very very small market, and from all accounts, that market/demand is not about - and no way are each print worth ยฃ2.5K because they are part of a set!!

Sorry, but I don't understand what you are talking about. What do you mean by "provenance is from POW"? Perhaps your definition of the word "provenance" differs to mine, which is simply the history of ownership.
The first 100 of each of the six LA prints (along with the six sets of P/Ps) were printed by Modern Multiples and published by Steve Lazarides. They were sold in Los Angeles through Laz, as were the originals available at 'Barely Legal'. If you bought one and had a complaint about it, you would complain to Laz, not to POW. It is Laz who kept records of ownership, which he then shared with POW.
The remainder of the editions, to the extent released, has been printed and distributed by POW in London. These are certainly POW releases, but on what basis are you categorising the prints released in LA as such?

That is entirely the point, remove the grey areas so all are fully aware, would be nice if all 'factual' content of Banksy Canvasses & prints were available to everyone here as a sticky..
Bump

Sorry this niggles me a bit. The street prints are the holy grail for hardcore Banksy fans - pre superstardom. Money aside - give me a signed Laugh Now, Bombhugger, Love is in the Air, Happy Choppers anyday of the week over this set. This was the stuff that will be remembered in years to come and the stuff that we love Banksy for, to be honest I struggle to remember the what the complete LA set of 6 is

I agree with you that imagery wise there are many stronger prints, but the argument is that there are only two maybe three intact sets of all 6 edition of 6 PPs with matching numbers etc left ot there. You have to agree it would be pretty cool to have them all framed up next to eachother signed with matching numbers etc. I don't own a set but could have had the last set for myself, if I had wanted to spend 135k, considering who bought them is quite the expert, they obviously think they will be worth much more, we will see what happens to them.

I guess thats why i'm not in the art business ;D

Banksy Complete LA Edition Set of 6 , by oneeye on Jul 10, 2008 22:57:25 GMT 1, I think we all can agree that this subject is getting pretty tired. I guess only time will tell how special these sets really are. Years from now, when the other two LA prints are still not released--you'll know how rare a complete set of matching numbers are.
Until then, maybe we should turn the page?
