New LAZinc Gallery?, by mido on Mar 23, 2006 12:43:25 GMT 1, I understand that, but can't agree with it, and even if my lottery numbers come up on Saturday there's no way I'd pay it. I don't care how famous the name is, I still like to think I'm getting value for money ` Walked past again last night and saw the phone box. Hmm. If it had been planted on the corner of Oxford Street or something it would have been fantastic. Planted in the middle of a gallery space it doesn't have the same effect.
yes, it is sad isn't it. The difference between becoming 'famous' and not, is SO small. It isn't much to do with talent.

New LAZinc Gallery?, by gm on Mar 24, 2006 9:18:24 GMT 1, Just managed to get into the Lazinc website.
Last time I looked, about 2 weeks ago, the Balloon Girl on 2 canvases was priced up at ยฃ2100 +VAT, and I was seriously considering maxing out my credit card.
Today... ยฃ4500 +VAT
And that's the other thing I hate (and not just with Lazinc - anywhere): "+VAT". Just let me know how much it's ACTUALLY going to cost

New LAZinc Gallery?, by steph on Mar 27, 2006 14:06:18 GMT 1, The price of art is, like anything simple economics where demand meets dupply is where the price is set. Unfortunately the prices get driven up by people who buy something to sell on (its the same with glastonbury tickets). Its not fair on the artist if they spend their time and money on something which they would like to sell cheaply but then some cheeky c*&nt makes there money as they buy it and sell it on. POW tries to keep the price as low as possible, but at the end of the day it is important that the money goes to the artist who produced it and not some ebay seller out to make a quick buck... original art is always going to be more expensive but not so long ago you could get a Banksy canvas for ยฃ250....

New LAZinc Gallery?, by gm on Mar 27, 2006 14:36:55 GMT 1, Think I was just feeling slightly bitter there because when I finally managed to get on to the website with plastic in hand he'd more than doubled the price of the one I wanted

New LAZinc Gallery?, by AoT Framing on Apr 26, 2006 11:58:29 GMT 1, I can't believe that the choppers have already sold out at Lazinc at 40k a pop. Although looking at the lack of detail on the monkey detonator at 35k they seem like a bargain. The detonator pic I think looks half finnished without the banana explosives. Rather like having Girl with Balloon without the balloon.
