I kinda found this hard to figure out until one explained to me that he could produce anything he saw, but better, so why would he want to shell out for it....maybe he had a point...those that can do....those that can't....collect....

You must work with some up-themselves artists.
The greats like Picasso, Braque, Leger, Gris etc all collected and swapped work amongst themselves, as did the Abstract Expressionists and Pop Artists.

a room full of art prints that show some initiative tells more about the owner than a piece that is effectively a big $ symbol on the wall
Given Mr Banksys position on copyright, I would suggest that a wall embalzoned with photocopied images and stuff printed form his PC may be more in charachter

I don't know about that. I think most artists understand the difference between the value of a original piece of art and the reproduction of art. There is some art where the inherent value is in the reproduction itself, but most of the time, it is not.
