Micallef 21CL Framed £4K or p/x GR, by bobbymeachamjr on Nov 23, 2008 7:29:50 GMT 1, Meats right. Nightmare scenario for an artists career is to have to reduce price to sell. In his case, he would need to drastically reduce. I'm talking 50% from current retail (at least). Overnight hype caused otherwordly pricing scenario. Sad because hes talented but thanks to Laz...

Micallef 21CL Framed £4K or p/x GR, by meatbag on Nov 23, 2008 23:33:21 GMT 1, Alife brotha, you sound a bit naive I hate to say. Nobody on here is doubting that Mics an incredible talent but the way his work has been handled over the couple of years has been a real shame. Laz's vision is nothing more then a series of half baked get rich quick schemes. Mic deserves better.

Micallef 21CL Framed £4K or p/x GR, by meatbag on Nov 24, 2008 1:59:11 GMT 1, alife I don't think anyone in these forums is trying to come across as an art critic. Just fans with strong opinions... the staple of a public forum. We definitely differ on the Laz thing so I'll leave it at that.
And Ron.. yea it was bad joke that that was more bad then joke. I tend to re-edit my own nonsense.

Banksman, what are you on about mate? Makes you laugh?? I didn't need to give any reasons at all as to why I was selling this piece however I thought it the 'right' thing to do. Not that it's any of your business but what I said is the truth, I live in a small two bed flat, if you knew anything about me you would know that I have artwork on every wall possible, I also have framed art in storage that I swap around every so often but have no additional space to hang in its own right. There is only one wall that the new Herakut can go on which is where the 21CL currently hangs. My flat has been up for sale since January but due to the current climate it has not sold, I had a bigger place lined up and had that sale gone through I would not have been selling this as I would have had somewhere to hang it. I really am running out of storage space and as this is a saught after piece of art I decided to see if it would sell. I have wall space in my office at work that would suit a Grin Reaper but sadly is not big enough for my 21CL, therefore if someone really wanted this Micallef and happened to have a Grin in a portfolio somewhere then the deal (which is negotiable) might have suited both parties.
Your post basically makes me out to be a liar, perhaps if you engaged your brain before posting or actually did a little research you might have saved yourself the time of making yourself look like a small minded idiot. I hope that the explanation above satisfies your need to justify my reason to sell.
As I said, if this doesn't sell then so be it, the piece will go into storage (which is a shame) and will hopefully be hung again when I have the space to do so.
I would also like to say that those who say that Micallef has had his day are talking bollox, the fact that like others his prices have fallen does not detract from the quality of this print, it remains his most beautiful piece of work IMO, just because prices have fallen doesn't mean to say that this piece has become any less desireable.
The ONLY reason that art rarely sells on this forum anymore is because there is a doubt about the profitability of the art on offer. You can't make a quick buck at the moment and so you don't buy. I personally don't buy to make money, this piece will lose £2k if sold at £4k, am I bothered? No, not really. Guess we are starting to see the forums true colours in certain area's!
21CL is still for sale or swap if anyone is interested, thankyou.

Micallef 21CL Framed £4K or p/x GR, by meatbag on Nov 26, 2008 3:45:30 GMT 1, I think it's a brutal situation for a collector to run out of wall space. If you are the type that only hangs the work you collect then it kinda sucks. It forces you to sell something to make the room and becomes a constant battle between the high of purchasing a new piece vs selling a piece on my wall you like the least.

Thing is this is FAR from my least favorite piece! It just won't 'fit' anywhere else and it hangs in the perfect spot for my new Herakut!
