What can I say, I love this artist and this is one of the 4 images of his that I most want to add to my collection.
indeed, but even though things are less now, there will be a time in a few years when everything will rise again after the recession, now is a great time to buy the art you've always wanted if the motovation is keeping long term, rather than short time profit, and im certain u fall into the 1st catagory

Don't assume everything will rise after the recession. It could be much worse than any of us know - and if it were to turn into a depression then the market would be fucked for many years to come.
Only buy what you love, can afford and can afford to become worthless.

I think that's especially true of collecting prints. However from my limited understanding, when one is spending tens of thousands of pounds(+) on canvasses, this is not necessarily the case. Of course no one should over-extend themselves for luxury items, if they are endangering their access to essentials, but when you buy a property (paying outright for the purposes of this comparison which does not factor-in credit/debt), even though you accept you're entering a market which can go either way, it's always a large investment and you would expect your asset to have SOME resale value, if ever you were in need. Surely this is true of art in certain sections of the market too?

BANKSY *Girl With Balloon* Canvas Ed 25 F/S, by Francis on Nov 19, 2008 20:52:27 GMT 1, I don't know what kind of drugs you guys are putting in your rectums, but this image is not nearly as good as the diptych. Why? Because the balloon is way too close to her. She can easily reach it if she had the motivation and was not so lazy. The meaning behind this piece is much different than the diptych or street piece. There is more of sense of lose and unattainability with those. In those, the girl can no longer reach the balloon and it is gone from her forever. Here, it's like...just hurry up and get the balloon, you lazy slob.

BANKSY *Girl With Balloon* Canvas Ed 25 F/S, by rosstierney on Nov 19, 2008 21:14:28 GMT 1, francis, you say that as if the canvas is a room with a ceiling
if the balloon was filled with helium it would immediately gain velocity once let go
i doubt there would be much stopping it, especially at that young age when reflexes aren't fully developed

BANKSY *Girl With Balloon* Canvas Ed 25 F/S, by Francis on Nov 20, 2008 0:08:54 GMT 1, I am not saying that rectal drug intake is necessarily a bad thing, I just don't know what exactly those drugs are that you guys are inserting.
The balloon is close enough to her that she could leap at it and catch it with string to spare. If you look at her, she's not even leaning towards it, much less making an effort to retrieve it. She's like "oh noes...there goes my balloon....it's gone now....someone help me". It's more of a message of succor less than of loss.

It could also be the very moment it slipped from her grasp.

BANKSY *Girl With Balloon* Canvas Ed 25 F/S, by uglyiq on Nov 23, 2008 20:14:56 GMT 1, BUMP....which I hate doing but it is rather nice (and makes a change from Nola frenzy - though that's quite nice too)

This print is all about moving on, letting go and growing up.
