We all have our own views as to what constitutes a reasonable decency period, especially following an untimely death.

Leaving aside charitable and other altruistic endeavours, my position is that any sale of work by an artist that is initiated within a month or so of their passing is insensitive, if not opportunistically crass. Likewise when it comes to engaging in discussions about the market of a recently-deceased artist.



[If I had doubts about the appropriateness of my behaviour in this situation, I'd ask myself the following: What would I feel comfortable doing or saying in front of the family and friends of someone who had just died?

Now, if it was quite likely that one or more of those family members and friends were visitors of this forum, I'd wish to show the same level of respect for their loss when posting here.]

Let's not practice doublespeak and also, let's not offend anyone, Respect first.

And the thread on Bast is a nice tribute, for his friends and his family. Rip Bast.

We can talk about man and art too, and no doubt some clumsiness can be emitted (* it is true that the short sentence above, 3 or 4 posts before, lacked tact, and was a bit terse. )

I agree, on the vulture side that often lurks around art (with all the flaws that this entails (lust, jealousy, compulsive shopping, lying, betrayal, theft, hypocrisy). Alas it is a reality and if I had posted a previous post on this subject it was to denounce this, because it must be denounced).

Here and there some increase their prices and sell, others regret having sold their Bast silkscreen earlier - why today and not yesterday?  etc., etc

Let's not play the hypocrites, Bast for me is still alive also through Paul Insect ( even if Bast artwxorks are Bast artworks ), they are inseparable, and complement each other. Aside from the puppets (fabulous artworks and overwhelming videos), watch the first artistic works of Pins and Bast, collages, color, revolt, protest, anarchy. We didn't talk about Faile either. The artist is eternal through his art.

He is recognized by his talent and his creation, and loved as an artsit and a man too, he gave his all life to the love of art ! Bast sleeps in the big leagues !
