Banksy tagged a lot too back in the days. Tagging is the roots of street art, if you think otherwise you should check Martha Cooper's Hip Hop Files book.

The TAG is essential in street art. Without tags there would be no graffiti or street art scene, period. It is the very essence urban and the beginning of an evolutionary art form. Most great street artist still do tag and therefor still legitimate IMO.

If it wasn't for the likes of TOX's tagging, the poor guys who's job it is to clean the paint off trains would be out of a job!! He's just as an important part of the cycle

Got back to London this afternoon. Was a nice coincidence that I was in NY to catch the The Pet Store before it closed.

Luckily the Rats about the city should be there for a while, although some were clearly on advertising space so will no doubt be painted over at some point.

Got a look at the Nick Walker TMA piece too. I hadn't realised it was painted on the side of a bar, over their beer garden. Looked like it was commisioned, or he asked to do it there. Was signed rather than just tagged. Looked good.
