I understand wanting to protect it with a persplex box but, if possible, I prefer being able to really see original pieces and shy away from putting glass or plexi in front of them if it's feasible. If there's going to be direct sunlight, that's obviously a no-no.

I would go for a low level chunky shelf (say an old railway sleeper or piece of pitched pine) about 2 feet off the ground and then rest the piece on top of it. You can rest the painting at a slight angle and use a strip of wood at the base to stop it sliding off the shelf.
A shelf something like this I have in my hall.

You'll find Hera likes drawings dogs as much or more as Akut. Often Hera's sketches get turned into herakut canvases.
