Plus I don't really look at these figures in the human sense - to me they're more like beautiful creatures.

Herakut π©πͺ Graffiti & Street Art β’ Art For Sale & Wanted, by motor on Nov 27, 2008 12:17:08 GMT 1, As everyone seems to be praising this show...
I won't talk about the actual art or the artists - although not my cuppa, art looks quality and Herakut are showing their talent no doubt.
It's the concept which I personally don't get. As I understand all the works on display are pre-commissioned pieces with nothing for sale. So what's the point? To me it looks just like an opportunity for happy owners to show off their new pieces and pat on each others backs. Again don't get me wrong - I am criticising the concept of the show, not the art or artists or having a go at the happy owners.

DonΒ΄t see how this should be any different, galleries has been doing it for ages.

so not that dissimilar to all the other shows put on, where most of the work has sold pre show, which leaves a bitter taste, especially if your hoping to buy. At least with this show you wont be disappointed because you know none of the work is for sale. Just go because you want to see some amazing pieces. Its a showcase for the artists, and a great concept by Frankie, which will be seen a lot more in the future.

I understand that. Most of shows are sold out prior to the opening. What I mean is - this show exhibits pre-commissioned pieces. It's not like you have seen it and then decided to buy. The pieces have been commissioned and probably paid while ago. So you were buying/paying for something you had not seen - so now seeing it, you can hardly be objective regarding the actual art. And yes, obviously everything is sold out this way.

Herakut π©πͺ Graffiti & Street Art β’ Art For Sale & Wanted, by jakek on Nov 27, 2008 14:14:29 GMT 1, Is it me or dose the one on the right looks a bit like Kate Moss? And if you separated the painting in to two new paintings,i.e one from each artist, would they look any good as stand alone pieces? If you know what i mean?
I bought a piece from Jasmine's solo show in the states earlier this year and it's beautiful, although i think the photorealism adds alot to most of pieces.
I've not seem any falk/akut solo stuff in the flesh but the work in the mac'claim book is pretty awesome...but then that is open to opinion as i know the case thread seemed to divide the forum into 2 camps.
Wiz, is that a case as your avatar?
And i'm gutted i can't make tonight as i have a work do in sheffield but i'll head down on saturday to check them all out.
