Sadly for all the reasons above I choose the cant be there sadly.

But it's going to be a pretty big extra expense to get down there and won't be worth it unless I can get one of the prints. So i dunno.
Anyone have verifiable info here? $2,000 USD or ยฃ2,000 GBP? Don't think I'll bother if it's GBP. Too much money for an edition that big. And I read 4 prints in edition of 400 - 200 of each will be sent to LA. So if they're only one per person that's 800 chancces to get a print. ;D hmmm....

I'm sure it'll be a blast.

I guess choice of bar for after show drinks will depend on the location of the show. Since they're all supposedly staying at the Roosevelt, I'm guessing it's going to be right in Hollywood.

I agree with all of that. Except that I am not that sad about it. Micallef just doesn't float my boat in the way other artists do.

I'm not writing it off at all - think it will be quite a good show - but personally my prediction (as half the posts on this forum are) is that from a cailber of art standpoint the Neate show will stand out - think almost every piece in his show was museum quality.
Think Micallef is going to be quite pricey, a PR-fueled show in which hopefully some strong pieces go to top/progressive US collections - rather than just all the lovely rich UK blokes coming over to take advantage of the dollar and go on vacation (that is the point of having it in the States, right?) That being said - I'm sure everything sells out preview night and I look very forward to seeing photos and what images are released as prints.
I have no problem eating my words once I see pics of the actual show but as Pez stated certain artists (Banksy, Neate, Gursky) do it much more for me.
