Laz Micallef's - Your Favourite?, by rob123rob on Sept 17, 2007 20:30:06 GMT 1, do people actually think they are not going to sell out immediately? I would love it if they were around for a couple days, so I wouldn't have to get up in the middle of the night to send an email that probably won't be responded to in the manner I'm hoping. And as far as which one I like the most, I've changed my mind several times on that issue, and now I think that Improvised Min. would look great (as someone else has already stated somewhere on this forum) next to 21 CL, but on its own, not sure if I would want it as much. And since the Uzi Lovers shouldn't be split up, IMO, then there's really only one choice, Peacekeeper..which by the looks of things is the one that everyone wants...so it will sell out in seconds...

Laz Micallef's - Your Favourite?, by andrewd on Sept 17, 2007 21:12:27 GMT 1, dave313Perry lol I will be interested to see how queues are at Laz on Wednesday. Wonder if there will be families of 6 buying to flip like at the Ghetto? Doubt that Laz will be too worried if there are prints still available on Thursday given that the ยฃ4K ones took so long to sell. They'll all go eventually, only hope that they are bought by people who really want them.

Laz Micallef's - Your Favourite?, by RBK on Sept 17, 2007 22:22:25 GMT 1, These prices are really testing the upper limits if you ask me. You can get some great unsigned Banksys for 1K GBP.
Micallef - 2 exhibitions, one piece sold at Sothebys Banksy - numerour exhibitions all over the world, best-selling book, multiple pieces sold at Sothebys, Christies, Bonhams, etc.
I'm not knocking Micallef - but want to play devil's advocate. If these prices are any indication, I'm quite scared what the pricing for the remaining POW Banksys will be!

Laz Micallef's - Your Favourite?, by RBK on Sept 17, 2007 22:33:08 GMT 1, Who are we kidding though... It's quite obvious a lot of the top artists are be 'moved' from POW to Laz, and everyone knows Laz has an interest in POW.
Will POW stick with the mantra of 'art for the masses for reasonable prices' or will they not be able to fight the allure of humungous profits that are all but ensured by the actions of their 'step-sister' company.

the problem isn't the Laz/Pow link.. that's always existed. It's the new galleries and secondary market dealers that jumped in on the back of POW's success that started upping the prices and offerred higher earlings for artists, this encouraged more established artists to jump ship and produce for other galleries or for themslves etc. It worked for some, Dface etc but not for others Eelus..
POW's new artists prints are still very reasonable compared to others.
Blu 200 quid Faile 25 quid Eine 150 Invader 75 quid Bast 20 quid David Choe 180
and on it goes.. all the major players for 200 quid or less.

Laz Micallef's - Your Favourite?, by RBK on Sept 17, 2007 22:53:11 GMT 1, I hear ya Nu - but let me ask you this (and I realize this is all speculative)...
- What do you think the prices will be for the remaing POW Banksy releases? Do you think they will keep them at the Morons levels? - What is your guess for edition size & price of the Micallefs?

I think the prices of wednesdays release is about right. JD is an edition of 500 and sells between ยฃ1900 and ยฃ2500 (i know its a better piece) all of his other work range from ยฃ1100-8000 odd, why should LAZ sell for ยฃ600 when we all know they are going to be on ebay for ยฃ1500+ a few hours later no matter the list price
