Speaking of B&W pieces.
They are mostly oil on canvas.
There are only few charcoal pieces. I remember 3 portraits out of the 15.
Nevertheless they are simply superb. Pics are good but nothing compare when seeing in flesh.
I am heading down there later on with camera.

some of these are absoloutly fantastic and reminds me of how amazing an artist Micallef is!

If i had known mary kate and ashley were there i would have gone in a heartbeat!!
seriously though, these pictures have left me bewildered as to the choices made for the laz prints. I hope POW release a few more, some of the black and white stuff would look amazing but as long as its bigger than head and self portrait.
It seems mad that the head studies were ยฃ3000 at his last show and now just one year later they are ยฃ50,000.
Were the $30,000 ones the 3 together that were mainly wording? That would have to be the meaning of life for me to shell out ยฃ15,000 on it! I assumed this would be a pre pre pre preview sell out with it being in LA and the buzz around him, and dare i say it, the quality of alot of the work. Im surprised to hear that some of the work was still available at the preview

I seriously doubt that we'll be seeing any more micallef print releases any time soon. its one thing flooding the market with a big edition print to allow his fans to get a print but if he releases more it could be a disaster for his career.

Yes, they were for sale. They also had maquettes of the 4 statues, edition of 25, US$45,000 each.

B&W are mostly oil on canvas. As I said only 3 were charcoal and it was on canvas too if I am not mistaken.

Just get on their mailing list already, and visit Micallef's representative gallery's site to get on their list too.
The promotion machine is in motion on this artist and if you'd like to get a piece of this sure-to-be-highly-valued-for-awhile-if-not-forever artist, those are the places to get it. Micallef's work is really very nice, but the formulaic hype is giving us a case of the "whatevers".
