Nice to know that they did venture into deepest Suburbia.

ADAM NEATE - 1,000 Print Give Away, by jonpud on Nov 17, 2008 11:50:43 GMT 1, I was unable to join the hunt and have only just caught up with this thread since friday!
Well done to all those who found one, especially Ronhill who is passionate about art!
Shame there is so much bad feeling on here by obvious jealous parties, it was bound to happen, but still a shame regardless.
Not gonna add to this thread anymore, hope it doesn't go too pear-shaped.

ADAM NEATE - 1,000 Print Give Away, by Heavyconsumer on Nov 17, 2008 11:56:18 GMT 1, Stuey, with respect, I'm sure you're right and on occasion I have stooped lower than I would have liked. I'm not perfect. But there's one thing I am that you are not. That is genuine. I say what I think and on occasion I make mistakes. Errors in judgment, overstepping the mark, etc etc. However I will openly apologise and admit being wrong. However, your posts ALL smack of falsehood and insinceerity in one form or another. You're an absolute tool. For you to make that statement about me, you clearly haven't been reading my posts, just one or two of the negative ones may have stuck in your mind. That's fine, but you CANNOT offend me, because I have no respect for you as a genuine person who speaks with any truth. You're a proven liar and have tried to rip off members here, while I have tried to do them favors on occasion and would never look to screw anyone over or take advantage of them as you do.

ADAM NEATE - 1,000 Print Give Away, by howler on Nov 17, 2008 12:00:04 GMT 1, How can this 1000 unsigned edition be ยฃ620 bid and Come On signed be ยฃ331 bid,HYPE, and dont say its a better picture, its ok at best
See where you're coming from but I think there's an aspect to this that hasn't been touched on yet.
This piece has the potential to become the years most fashionable piece from this scene. The idea, the stories, the huge amount of press it's generated and the sheer number of people who got involved with the event. There must be a huge number of people who want one on their wall now for bragging rights. I know mine will be up for years to come and I hope everyone who sees it asks if I found it so I can regale them with tales of my adventures.
Yes you could buy a Neate print from a smaller signed edition for less but that's not going to spark off as many interesting conversations. This isn't just a piece of art it's a memento of a unique event and IMO that is where the value lies for many.
However having said all that, over ยฃ700 are they mad ;D

ADAM NEATE - 1,000 Print Give Away, by Existencil on Nov 17, 2008 12:07:48 GMT 1, Because your an absolute saint, right? Never put a foot wrong. Butter wouldn't melt. I've never actively gone out to criticise anybody else or 'bully' people into submission. I only fight back when members like you sit up and start taking pot shots. My posts are always built around real art discussion. I have tried to flog a few things on here, but it's been as much about my interest in the way the art market works as it is in money. I may not know as much as many members claim to, but I add to an enjoyable atmosphere that has been fostered on here since I joined in July 2007. You seem to be part of this new breed of member that collectively acts like big brother, passing judgement on other members on almost every subject. I'm starting to feel like there are CCTV cameras hanging over the forum. I'm sure JBOY feels the same.

Thanks for the welcome, I'm enjoying it as I type the joy of shrink wrapped plastic no need to worry about a portfolio for it just prop it up on a shelf until I save up for a frame.

Agreed, Neate is great value right now. The quality of his prints especially - the images are just so very good and the printing is superb. I wish I had the dough to hunt down a few unique street pieces, but not with X-mas coming up! ;D I think these will be cheap as chips in a few weeks to be honest. No slight on the image meant when I say that. It's very simple yes, but it's still a nice example of the fundamentals of "Neatism." For me it's all about his smooth line and the use of bold colours. The details in some of his work are awsome, but my favourites are normally the pieces where his line and the colours do the talking, like a lot of the portrait pieces etc. I would definitly like one of these, but I feel it's too expensive for what it is at ยฃ500+ or anything close to that, while the prices on EVERYTHING else are so low at the moment.

ADAM NEATE - 1,000 Print Give Away, by onemandown72 on Nov 17, 2008 13:03:08 GMT 1, Just caught up on all this. His whole concept is epic! he made a FREE print release, distributed it over an entire city, people took to the streets for hours, brought people together, made people happy, made people angry, made people money, made people think, made people hate the image, made people think to share, made people think to give proceeds to charity, made people argue, gave people stories. Imagine if Warhol had done this!
Spot on - couldn't agree more. I decided against searching for a piece as te image itself was not my cup of tea, but was really in 2 minds as being part of the search was all part of the experience in my mind and that was what really appealled to me. Whilst everybody has an opinion of what happens with the pieces afterwards that to me is a kind of inconsequential to the attention and interest that Neate generated. It would be better to agree to disagree re the selling on Ebay etc and move on. Look forward to the next show, event, piece of art that excites and enlivens your life. Don't get hung up on what people are doing with their Neates, really it's not worth it.
