Adam Neate Show Pic's *SPOILER ALERT*New Pics 7/8, by pezlow on Aug 3, 2007 15:06:15 GMT 1, This show is jaw droppingly good. Some of the originals are just stunning. The two self portraits are huge and very very strong work. Neate has truely raised the bar with this show and is well on the way to becoming a hugely significant contemporary artist.

Adam Neate Show Pic's *SPOILER ALERT*New Pics 7/8, by tomhills1 on Aug 3, 2007 19:36:31 GMT 1, I was there last night and was quite near the back of the que (i was actually about halfway at the start of the night but ended up about 15 from the back due to the amount of swines pushing in- don't get me started! Anyway when i got my prints it was only the 2 big portraits and the trip tych that had sold out - im pretty sure there will be quite alot still available today - alot of people were saying that the 'blog' print had sold out but i think it was just a case that this one wasnt available to take home on the night - they said it would need collecting in two weeks time - anyway if you can face the que dont delay!! Just a final note with regards the 'pushers in' - i saw a girl (hopefully she will read this ) she had big curly ginger hair - she pushed past me to have a go at someone that she thought was pushing in (in reality he wasnt even going to the show just chatting to his mate) any way when the doors opened and the crowd began to move and ginger just steamed past about 20 people!! In some ways i felt sorry for her but i did keep thinking about if i saw her crossing the road and i was driving how nice it would be to run her over - dont get me wrong i wouldn't want her to die - just maybe have a broken leg and a little bit of internal bleeding!
;D that is the best thing i have read all week. and written in the cold light of day too, hell hath no fury!

Adam Neate Show Pic's *SPOILER ALERT*New Pics 7/8, by tomhills1 on Aug 3, 2007 20:01:37 GMT 1, at the risk of sounding like a f*ckin' echo, this boy is safe as. i remember someone tipping him to me when the elms lesters prints, tea drinker etc, went up and at around ยฃ700 i thought they were nice, some more than others, but out of my league. i'll be honest and say that was not only my introduction to him but all i knew of him also, i knew about his street gifts, just not so much of what they look like. hence i was not too clued up to adam's 'style', i didn't know if he was experementing or it was the style he was feeling at the time or what. since then i've seen only snippets of what he does and subconciously built a greater understanding of his work.
then carlito goes and makes me go spoil myself if i thought i was getting to know his work and appreciate it i was wrong. he has sucked me in without realising it and only upon seeing a whole load of it side by side did it hit me.
like a f*cking express train.
two days ago, if someone had asked me if i was a fan of his i would have said i liked him but wouldn't say i loved him. now? i'm in total awe of his work. i don't know if i would want it all on my walls at home (i'm ignoring the fact i could never afford it), maybe the odd piece but that is missing the point. you don't need to own this work to be mesmerised, inspired, moved, touched, invigorated, astounded, invoked, heartened and above all just pleased that someone is raising the bar beyond ll expectation, or at least mine.
since being a member of this forum i have been introduced to artists and their work which although in instances has been more than rewarding, i've not seen such a body of work in one go that makes me lost for words (i wrote this after that before you lot start ).
i don't envy those that were lucky enough to buy what they wanted last night, even if i was there it would take me a further three months to be sure, i will be making my way to the exhibition to be further dubfounded though, i just take great pleasure in looking at what adam neate has created. hopefully in years to come there will be still be the opportunity to take in his work as a whole, for me that is how it works best. show me any of his images individually and i would agree that they are well executed, together: different gravy.
fair play, i'm genuinely in love with a special talent, congratulations on an awesome collection sir

Adam Neate Show Pic's *SPOILER ALERT*New Pics 7/8, by manchestermike on Aug 3, 2007 21:12:10 GMT 1, How'd you bruise your leg?
Well...
(deep breath )
Was on my way down the M6 (making very good time) about 10 miles from Stoke and the car started beeping, saying puncture / flat tyre. I've got run flat tyres on the car so had to drive at about 45 miles an hour to the nearest BMW garage (Stoke). However, although I could see the garage I couldn't get to the swine so thought I'd ask at a petrol station. There was a low brick wall round the forecourt, pulled up and thought right, jump onto the wall and over, easy, it's only small. However my jeans had fallen down slightly while I'd been driving so as I jumped up my leg didn't reach. Smashed my left shin on the corner of the wall, flew over sending mobile flying, and thumped my right thigh on the other edge of the wall and my elbows on the forecourt.
Cue the entire petrol station pissing themselves at me and me with this mammoth bruise on my thigh
Then found out as well as a puncture my other front tyre was too worn so needed two, involving a long wait in Stoke...
To cap it all off that car is a contract hire that goes back next week
