'We are all fools for love' was our piece for this year's UPfest. As ever we like to take our time and building up the background took up most of the afternoon. Then, finally, it was time to get the big stencil up to be coloured in and to affix the lettering to the wall. Which is when we had a small crisis due to my complete incompetence at carpentry. After crying for help we eventually managed to get hold of a electric drill/screwdriver and get the lettering fixed to the wall.
This year's design was based on a picture of a friend. She doesn't know it yet and I hope she likes it as we've gone for a looser, sketch style stencil.

Not a paste up. It is spray.
It's actually very good quality, and is a high profile spot to hit (main road, right next to the main hospital, with cops and ambulances galore) so to do something like that there is quite impressive, especially for someone who let's be honest most of us hadn't heard of before (inkwel)

I did come to see your work, but you weren't there at that time. I was very chuffed, however, to pick up two of your canvasses. Love them!! That's all good mate! How did you son get on? My lad and I have been to all 5 upfests and the upnorthfest, and I tend to agree this one was the best so far.
My lad did really well I think. He loved being part of the group of painters, adn so many artists came and chatted with him, offered help, support and encouragement, including AP, idiom, t.wat, dellboyy, oliver Winconek, stickee, matti and so many more - all were so great with him. It was his first time painting in public, and he was in the main thoroughfare of the baccy faccy, but he held his own.
This was his piece (already posted above once - apols for repeating)

Thanks Lee - showed him your post, and he was chuffed.
He was very nervous painting in front of so many people. Fear of it going wrong. We had a few stressy moments, but thats to be expected from a kid of 13. This has dne his confidence wonders.
Love my two new canvasses. Especially the top one. Cheers mate.

Nice one posting this Fingers. I got a couple of the stenciled multiples tht he was selling. His lovely female assistant charmed me into the purchases. Not sure if she was the model in his work though.

Wow! Thanks for posting the finished piece. Only saw it part way through.
Tank petrol is a very nice chap, as is his lovely assistant!
Chatted to him for a while this year. Met him first at I think upnorthfest and then SS&S.
I think he is very talented, and hope he gets some recognition.
I have a very nice piece on wood by him, and still love it.
Very nice to meet you on Saturday letiss. Sorry we didnt hook up later. I got quite tipsy, and just went with the flow!

Agree with AP I went for the red but it was a close thing with the silver as it was very tasty. But red hit first so went with first choice? The gold was actually gone already but was not my pick anyway
