Upfest โข Street Art Graffiti Festival , by UpFest on Oct 3, 2008 1:18:10 GMT 1, Hi All, just wanted to invite everyone coming into Bristol for Up Fest down to SPQR's show - CAUTIONARY TALES. We are staying open till the 19th specially and will stay open long enough for anyone who wants to come down and check the wicked work SPQR has done for his debut solo show. I'm sure the big man himself will invite you all down in person on the day itself but I wanted to extend this 'formal' invite now. really looking forward to this mind,practising a bit at mo,my style does not overally lend itself to live paint but il have it nailed down in time!!!

Is there any way you can do the whole gift in kind thing, i don't know the right name, where if someone donates money to charity the govt. adds some on top.....

Free grub, think I'll come over! What about 8.30 till midday... Canvases go on sale at upfest at 10, so anyone wanting first dibs could come to you for breakie at 8.30 and get over to the tobacco factory for 10.... How's that sound?

Ed, yeah all money will be subject to gift aid, the charity can claim it on everything raised as even the 50% from the sale of the art is in effect a donation from the artist....
The charity is amazing, of all the donations they get only 5% goes on admin costs, most is used to support abused, scared, lonely kids of parents who are Dependant on alcohol or other addictions...

Can I be honest and mention the one thing that crossed my mind though. If they weren't on wood they might run the risk of not being that 'urban', have you thought of getting some spraypaint in on the action?
(Obviously I love them anyway and they don't have to be anything different or 'urban' at all.)

Good point, I know if I was making the trip I'd definitely be carrying a few screwdrivers, a pair of plyers and massive crowbar - don't think I'd get very far

The plan is to screw them up somewhere close to UpFest, but they are meant as street gifts so if you take the time to get them off the wall it's cool to claim it. To Levi C, there is a little bit of spraypaint on the 1st piece, it's on the white hi-lighted areas of the portrait, although I do plan to use more spraypaint in future pieces. Finally to Stickee, I think I may actually try and come up with a tag to sign my work with instead of the standard DOC I'm using now. I'll let you know if and when this change comes about.
