Banksy NOLA Print on POW, by Curley on Nov 24, 2008 21:09:07 GMT 1, To be fair POW have added prints at random times. 4am Morons anyone. Morons was on Thursday late morning if i recall - I was at my desk - doing exactly that Banksy Festival youtube video - literally s**t the pants off the people in my office when my B&W Morons, dropped out of my basket
The POW website crashed and they came back up for sale in the middle of the night. Mine was timed at 30 March 2007 05:11:14 BST

Banksy NOLA Print on POW, by alsbabar on Nov 24, 2008 21:11:38 GMT 1, what did you get mammal, sepia, B&W or unsigned? There were in total 850 morons released - and given the site was proper shite that day, not all sold out, their system simply crashed after release - the Nola is a different issue in my opinion, as their site crashed prior to release. Once released it sold out and it even said it on their site within minutes.

Banksy NOLA Print on POW, by Standard on Nov 24, 2008 21:11:51 GMT 1, I can't see the significance of what time any of the purchases were made has on all of this.
It could be argued that each print is individual due to their print run. It would therefore be quite wrong to cancel a contract of sale to honour another contract sale (which would be different). Try thinking of the same scenario with a different product.
ex:
buyer 1 buys print 10 buyer 2 unknowingly buys print 10 as well whilst buyer 3 buys print 100, albeit the following day. It does not matter when the contracts were made, on which day or what time. They are separate contracts. The 3rd contract of sale surely has no link to the the first two as the product is a separate item. It would be therefore be wrong to cancel the 3rd contract to honour the 2nd.
Complicated it is & I'm not sure on a buyers rights in all of this, but POW have made the decision to make right the loss of the Thursday buyers, which is morally the right thing to do. However it is THEIR mistake and should in my opinion offer something to appease the disgruntled Friday buyer who has lost out. (I'm not one btw)
If I was one I would be putting a very constructive letter of complaint together in the hope that they offer you a bite of the cherry next time around.
OFCOURSE the BIG QUESTION in all of this is.......What, if anything, are they going to do to prevent this from happening again?

That is correct, and had the prints not been released in ERROR on friday morning, everyone F5ing friday morning would have just been sitting there and doing it for hours. There were never any prints there for the Friday buyers to buy to begin with regardless of what the web site said. A completely different situation than what happened with carts doubling up print numbers on thursday.

Banksy NOLA Print on POW, by redfred on Nov 24, 2008 21:20:32 GMT 1, I personally feel it would be no skin off their nose if they offer the Friday buyers (not me) the opportunity to buy the next Banksy release if they want it! POW being a business still gets the same revenue and its good customer relations, everyone is a winner except for the fact that the edition size will be slightly smaller for release to the flippers and script users etc.!

Banksy NOLA Print on POW, by pfffffffffft on Nov 24, 2008 21:33:17 GMT 1, ..... if there were no prints to sell on Friday morning how are they giving them to the Thursday buyers? ?
The prints offered up on friday should have been allocated to the thursday buyers that were victims of the double numbers in carts, but were not allocated in error. Had they been re allocated, there would have been no prints to sell on friday.

Banksy NOLA Print on POW, by trowel on Nov 24, 2008 21:39:52 GMT 1, OF COURSE the BIG QUESTION in all of this is.......What, if anything, are they going to do to prevent this from happening again? ^ This.
Fingers crossed I and all my fellow victims - be you Thursdayites or Fridians - will get our prints at the expense of the evil Flippinians, but prevention is better than a cure and POWs ordering system has been incapable of handling Banksy releases since the shit hit the fan in '06.

Banksy NOLA Print on POW, by mishco on Nov 24, 2008 21:49:03 GMT 1, Werent the Friday prints on site at 8am? When have POW ever released a print at 8am? Surely the time they released would have raised peoples suspicions!11
i got my grannies at 8am ish. i remember sitting in the office at home being given hassle to go out and feed the sheep. checked POW and bam, 1 grannies print. no hassle no fuss...very straightforward. i even had enough time to get one for my buddy which before anyone asks is up on his wall.

Banksy NOLA Print on POW, by mishco on Nov 24, 2008 22:00:12 GMT 1, as it happens i don't think ip address has anything to do with it. you would have to use different cards and different addresses and who in their right mind would lend you their card and have a banksy print sent to their address and not claim it!?
someone correct me if i'm wrong but is the ip address not from the internet connection and not the individual computer. so if, for example, you're in the library and order a print then discover and individual 5 computers down from you also scores one will the ip address not be the same. albeit that the 2 people are completely unconnected and are purchasing with no flipping intentions?

You're right - typically, the IP address is on the internet connection (ADSL, cable modem etc.), so 10 computers connected to the same ADSL link would appear to have the same address to the outside world. Although, many orgnisations own an entire IP address range and individual machines connected to the internal network will have their own unique IP address as far as t'internet is concerned. So if you're at work, your machine may report a different address to the one next to you... or it may not. :-)

Banksy NOLA Print on POW, by gorgeous on Nov 24, 2008 22:12:55 GMT 1, i am confuse right now i just got a reply from Dora
Hi I am sorry to inform you that your print order was refunded. Due to the volume of people clicking to buy at the same time a small number of prints were sold twice. Whilst the payment for both orders was taken, the database only recorded one of the orders. We had no option but to honour the order which was successfully recorded in the database & refund the order which did not make the database. In this case it was your order which did not make the database & I do sincerely apologise for the disappointment this will cause you. Please let me know if there is anything more I can do. Dora pow
then someone here is saying they will offer next banksy release for those who got refund for the thursday order, but another member here is saying they will cancel the firday order, and give those firday print to thursday order, i am so confused right now, so what are we thursday order people going to get?

Banksy NOLA Print on POW, by gorgeous on Nov 24, 2008 22:32:25 GMT 1, welcome to the wide world of Misinformation
so is it better for me to copy this
Official statement from POW regarding the release:
We would like to apologise to the people who received a refund on Thursday. Our database was overwhelmed with people adding to basket at exactly the same time & a small number of prints were allocated twice. The small number of prints that became available on Friday were related to something else & clearly those prints should never have been made available. As a result all of those orders on Friday have now been refunded. We extend our apologies to those customers as well. We have been able to to re-allocate all the prints from Friday's refunds & prints destined for Ebay sellers to customers who were refunded on Thursday. We hope to cover all the people who were refunded Thursday but if we don't they will be offered the opportunity to buy a Banksy print in the future. We thank you for your continued support & understanding. Best regards Simon@picturesonwalls.com
and send it to dora and see it's real or not?

as it happens i don't think ip address has anything to do with it. you would have to use different cards and different addresses and who in their right mind would lend you their card and have a banksy print sent to their address and not claim it!? someone correct me if i'm wrong but is the ip address not from the internet connection and not the individual computer. so if, for example, you're in the library and order a print then discover and individual 5 computers down from you also scores one will the ip address not be the same. albeit that the 2 people are completely unconnected and are purchasing with no flipping intentions? Banksy NOLA Print on POW, by alsbabar on Nov 24, 2008 23:08:43 GMT 1, To be fair POW have added prints at random times. 4am Morons anyone. Yes, I got my sepia the day after official release, early in the morning. Think it was around 9am swedish time, should be 8 then in the UK. Soo, once again Alsbabar are talking thru his arse...
Do you know what a "?" means, its a question - not a statement!!!
read my post again, perhaps you are drinking too much of that aquavit s**t, so lay off it!!!! I tried to make the point that when Morons was released POW's site crashed after it was released, also it did not state on the POW site, they were SOLD OUT until the last print was snapped up, which happened to be sometime time after the release. Nola on the other hand, on the POW site stated as SOLD OUT a few minutes after release and prior to the ERRONEOUS release on Friday!!!
